Florence and the Machine - awful, awful, awful
As anyone will testify who heard her sing Halo in the Live Lounge yesterday.
Easily up there as one of the worst singers at the moment. Lets just hope the BBC don't show too much of this pile at Glasto. |

All a matter of opinion, I think she is absolutely fantastic, one of the best female singers we've had in a long time! I love her, the live lounge performance of Rabbit Heart was stunning.

I've not heard the Live Lounge thing but I thought they were great when I saw them last year as part of the NME tour. Really looking forward to hearing the album.
Can't say I'll be watching any of the Glasto coverage though so not really fussed what they do or don't show.

Saw her on the NME tour with Glasvegas earlier in the year and thought she rocked. I suspect she will storm this years festivals and go on to have a big selling debut album.
btw, she's on Jonathan Ross tomorrow night. |

I've never really been a fan of them live lounge things, have never really been interested in them - I'd rather judge an artist by hearing them singing their own stuff, not completely inappropriate covers which is what they always seem to try to get them to do.
Besides, isn't Halo a Beyonce song? How ever bad Florence might have sounded, I can be sure I'd prefer it to listening to Beyonce. ![]() Player1 - Thanks for mentioning Jonathan Ross, gonna have to watch that! |

She's a good performer. I thought I might like her but I don't think I do.
She's too... female singer/songwriter. Kind of cliché sometimes. |

I have to agree. 'Rabbit Heart' is amazing and one of my favourite songs at the moment. I never thought that I would like it when I first heard it on the radio a few weeks ago, but it's a grower.
Not keen on 'Dog Days' though. The sort of thing that could send me to sleep with ease |

Great singer. Agreed, her version of 'Halo' was a bit rough in places but I can tell she has a stunning voice and can't wait for the album.

I'm very picky when it comes to female singer/songwriters and I get the impression she's trying too hard to fit in to that whole "scene".

Are you kidding about the Live Lounge? I'm a massive fan of the original and thought it was a pretty incredible take on the song.

A mate of mine who works for the NME (poor soul) has to rant and rave about her when in truth he actually can't stand her.
Personally her music bores me. |

Don't agree at all. I think she's talented in her own right and a song like Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) stands head and shoulders above most of the stuff out there right now.
So catchy, got me hooked soon as I first heard it. Which wasn't long ago, (no I haven't been living under a rock LOL) Actually I think this was because I had not listened to the radio at all for ages and I hadn't really checked out her stuff in other ways, like youtube. I had seen her at Glastonbury on the TV and may have heard it then I suppose. But it was the other day in the car when I put Radio 1 on for the first time in ages, that I got my ears round Rabbit Heart. What a brilliant track it is. Has a real feel-good energy about it. I love the Switch remix too.

She was amazing at T in the Park on Saturday. Highlight of the weekend. The new album is up there as one of the best of the year for me as well.

Im stuck on the fence when it comes to ol' Florence. Theres some great songs on her album but everyone seems to be lining her up as the new Kate Bush which is really a bit OTT.
