Origins of the Doctor

I was thinking to myself the other night about an idea for a Doctor Who episode or movie. Obviously my idea wont go to the screen(unless RTD or SM are reading this!). But my idea was about an episode or film that tells the story of the Doctors begining. We could see a young first Doctor attending the Time Lord academy on Galifray(sorry for my spelling!). The feel to the story could be kind of like Harry Potter meets Lord of the rings and Star Wars. We could see the young first Doctor have a girlfriend or wife, then see him become a dad. Also we could see the Master,Rani & Romana starting out aswell. We could see the Doctor gettng his Tardis for the first time. Maybe see the TimeLords have a little war with some other alien species towards the end of the film(not the Daleks tho!)

The BBC wanted to do a "Young Doctor" series but RTD told them no and created the Sarah Jane Adventures for them instead.

Have to say I agree with RTD on this one.

Oh and Romana is 600 odd years younger than the Doctor so would not have been at the Academy at the same time.

Mary Tamm was better than the other one.

The idea of seeing the young Doctor is a very good one, it would make an excellent Doctor-lite episode imho, cast a new actor to play a young William Hartnell just for that episode, maybe throw in a young Master as well, maybe finish the story with how he steals the Tardis, he zooms off then the credits roll. And, of course, the Tardis wouldnt have been in the shape of a police box then either.

Well, I'd watch it Zimnoch., you've got my vote.

A classic of my youth.

I use the term classic in its loosest possible sense.

To be fair tho, James Bond Junior, was actually the proper JB's nephew, just named after his uncle.

Cant remember why he seemed to hang around with young versions of other James Bond folks tho.... seem to recall a young version of Jaws.

Then intro is here

"James Bond Junior chases scuuuuuum.......around the world."

But back on topic, I never think these things are a good idea. Look what happened to Star Wars. Maybe if it was just a very good well written novel it might just pass.

But isn't the mystery better? Things are never as good once the explanation comes out.
