I'm looking into getting a knive sharpener and wondered if you guys had any ideas.

I have a steel but I think my knives need a more indepth sharpen and just have the steel for finishing up.

I also have a kind of sharpener on the back of a electric can opener but i'm not too sure how it works and how good it is. I don't want to use it and damage the knives.

Anyway, I was looking at getting one of these

Any opinions?

It depends how costly your knives are whether you'll be happy to run them through a £10 sharpener like that.

The best choice is a whetstone which you can get for a decent price here, note there's guide rails available too:

Sorry, should have added this bit.

The knife set only cost around £35 but they are ok. Probably not chef quality but a lot better then my previous knives. So I didn't really want to spend too much on a sharpener and did want something relatively easy.

That little sharpener is cheap and it has got good reviews.

I got the AnySharp and it seems to be very good. I've used it on my two main knives and they have passed the tomato slicing test

Anysharp is a brilliant sharpener. I bought it for my mum and she said its easily the best one she has owned.
