It must be linked to the London version, I had this with heat best thing to do is reset the dab tuner, do an auto scan for the strongest stations and it should find the d1 version over the London version.

Discovered the error, Fun Kids on the DLS scroller is the same label, so when I move the dial, it seems as it's only moved once when it's twice. (Hope that makes sense?)

You know when you have the D1 version as it says "Fun Kids UK" instead of "Fun Kids" on DRg London once you've tuned into the station.

Fun Radio on Digital 1 is transmitting at 80kbps mono with both D1 Test 1 and D1 TestA at 48kbps mono. The other Fun Radio transmission on Drg looks like has now ceased.

The DRg service closes at 7pm, but returns in the morning.

Ah didn't know that about the Drg broadcast being part time.

The Digital 1 e-news letter said that Fun Radio would start on their mux at midnight 26 June until 3 October which implies it will be continuous 24 hours a day. Although how many kids will be up and about at 1 in the morning is anyone's guess.

Most, if not all, kids up at 1am can't sleep and looking at the description of their overnight show it's designed to help with this:

Yes, I can now get a Fun Kids radio speech test broadcast (80 kbps mono) which loses its appeal after a short while. I'm also getting D1 Test 1 (speech - 48 kbps mono), D1 Test A (speech - 48 kbps mono), Data&Audio Test (speech & music - 192 kbps stereo) all on the Digital 1 mux.

Who knows, we might get some additional stations as well. Although this is an aside, I wouldn't mind having the audio feed from Sky News broadcast on DAB as a competitor to the BBC's factual news offerings. That would help to fill up another of the empty Digital 1 spaces.

ref the Data&Audio Test for those fortunate to get to the radio festival (not me)

Both data and audio can enhance the listener experience on digital platforms and the team from Fraunhofer are here to tell us how their technology and standards are ready to be deployed right now to do just that. They will demonstrate this (including 5.1 surround) with in car receivers.”

Sky and Global were to have done this on the ch4 radio bid but fell out, looks like Global might do this themselves with a new version of LBC.

I wish they would just stick Galaxy on there so everyone can get it.

i'm rather hoping that when (if) LBC goes on Digital One they'll up the bitrate to at least 64k, 80 would be better. Although i appreciate hearing it everywhere i go on DAB up here, i heard an ad today and it sounded like listening to the radio when the battery is about to die.

Lizzie Crow mentioned on air that Premier is going "national" but can't find any web reference to it.

AbracaDABra will return on Monday to give Fun Kids radio some comptetion, but web only via play radio!
And Caroline Thomson has said the BBC made a mistake by failing to launch digital radio station aimed at children.

Neither can I, hanssolo. They are currently restricted to DAB in the London area (http://www.premierradio.org.uk/listen.aspx) and, if I remember correctly, didn't they try to get a national DAB slot a year or two ago?

Actually Premier Christian Radio is reasonably national (~75%) on a Freeview commercial multiplex. Obviously Digital One would offer better coverage than that except in Northern Ireland. I wonder whether they are in fact wasting their money on Freeview, judging by the fact that no station seems to have taken up the vacant 128kbps Freeview slot advertised by Arqiva in January 2009. Obviously it is not a popular commercial radio distribution method. No new stations since November 2006 (and still going).

Would Premier want a 48kbps D1 slot? (As seems to have been prepared for two lucky stations). Surely they would need a minimum of 64kbps with 48kHz sampling like their Freeview slot for non speech use?

It isn't necessarily a 48kbps slot. I think they shuffled the bit rates of the test streams to accommodate the 192kbps audio test for the Radio Festival.

Premier will get whatever bit rate they are prepared to pay for.

Premier will join Digital One from 21 September and are still asking for money:

Does that mean that any station can ask for donations to cover its costs? It seems odd to me that we don't have "normal" listener-funded music stations here the way they do in the US (eg KEXP) yet we have a religious station which solicits money from its listeners.

That should stimulate interest in DAB sets.

Interest in throwing them in a skip that is.

A bit sad that the creator of the universe can only manage 48k MP2.

What a waste of bandwidth - seems D1 is turning in to the minority multiplex!

Will D1 be full after Premier launches or will they still have some spare bandwidth?

I can't see premier using 48k thats just taking the mickey for a music station. but i doubt they have the money for 192k or even 128. the best I think we'll see is 80k mono and probably 64k like UCB
