No the stick is fine the problem is that you need to open the location that you want to send the files to click the > button to select the right hand pane and press the ok button to toggle the location folder open or closed ... open appears with about three fullstops next to the folder icon

Have you tried this guide here: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...s+to+usb+stick
A list of USB sticks that work and don't work would be handy, I don't know if such a list has been started here or not.

You probably haven't opened the partition on the USB stick in the right pane of the File Manager.

Open File Manager using Opt+, you should see your recorded folders on the HDD on the left, and your USB on the right with a folder called sda1, highlight this folder & click OK, then navigate back to the left, and choose the file you want to copy, it should now allow the green Copy function.

Copy is disabled if you have already copied once from BBC HD, and ITV HD does not even allow "copy once".

Rgds.

Thank you Les.

That worked a treat and I now have have 3 files on the USB stick for the trial copy that I made, a MPEG TS file, an HMT file and a NTS file.

All of this seems very similar to the files I get from my Technomate and the TS file is now playing on my PC using Media Player Classic.

Now the next problem is copying onto an external hard drive.

My Technomate requires formatting to FAT 32 but how about the HUMAX.

Best option is using the EXT 3 format. I use a 1Tb external drive in this format and it works a treat!

No problem.

As germanycalling says, best to use Ext3, you can use Fat32, but you will inevitably come up against the 4GB file limit with Fat32.

You need to use Linux to format to Ext3; if you don't know how to do this, see here for links to some excellent instructions.

HDR.”

It did just occur to me if anyone had tried to do an FTP transfer to see if it is actually disabled?
