Stray cat had kittens in our backyard
Leanna1989

A stray mother cat had kittens in our shed. I've been taking care of them since Mother's Day. Anyway, they go to the vet tomorrow, then the 4 kittens can go to homes. They're healthy now, after we cleared up the eye infection. I'm hoping to trap the mother and get her spayed. I think they're adorable, but I might be biased.

Anyway, thought you might enjoy the pics:

It was a hot day, so the kittens sat down in the shadow my legs made.

I think I have homes for the 2 males, but the 2 females will be a bit harder to give away.

Momma cat is very small. Here's a pic of her from April 15, which I guess is around the time the kittens were born.

They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! That mother cat doesn't look like a stray, she's gleaming with health. Thank god for people like you that will adopt animals and make sure they're okay. I can't bear to think what would have happened if you'd not helped their eye infections.

I want them all!

What lovely colours they are! Momma cat has lovely fur. She looks well fed.

Cats Protection have a trapper to do the neutering.

I live in the rural U.S., so my options are limited, but I have found people online who have helped me immensely.

You have my admiration, Leanna and bless you for caring enough to help those kitties.
I wish there were more people like you in the world!

Just got back from the vet. Everything went well. Kittens got their first round of shots and some dewormer.

The vet said to call the Missouri Department of Conservation to get a humane trap. The Department loans them out. Then just get the cat to the vet and they'll spay her and keep her overnight. Spaying costs between $81-$100 (about 49-60 British pounds).
Part of the cost depends on if she is in heat or pregnant, which she may be by now. The kittens are 8 weeks old.

Anyway, the kittens are ready to go.

Someone on another forum offered to help pay for the spaying, so I think we'll be able to get that done. I have some uneasiness about a kitty abortion, if we have to do that. However, I think it's necessary, considering the overpopulation problem.

They all look absolutely adorable & well done to you for taking care of them ~ at least they've all got a fighting chance of having happy healthy lives now.

I hope the rehomings & spaying go ok. It's a good idea to have someone else trap the mum as if she's released back into your garden she won't associate you with the trauma. She may become a bit more settled & friendly when the mating drive has gone.

Awww they are gorgeous. I love cats I have a 2 year old cat and a 14 week old kitten. But if I was in the same situation I couldn't bring myself to give them up so I'd have a lot of cats to feed

Thanks for sharing the wonderful pics Leanna and good on you for taking some action to help. May good karma fall on you.

My GF son found an abandoned kitten recently who was pure white with blue eyes (about 7 weeks old) and I had use every bit of strength I had not to fall in love with her. (I have two massive male tom cats and I think they may of ate her!) but I found her a new home.

We have three kittens now. The family took the smaller male. Their daughter named it "Junior." So, we're down to three now. I'm sure they'll be good to the cat. They want to make sure he'll be okay with the German Shepherds, but I'm sure it will be fine.

Well done you OP for taking the time and effort to ensure these little bundles of fluff had a good start in life - they are absolutely adorable!!!

They did have a pretty nasty eye infection though? Glad that's all cleared up ....

Bless you for making sure they got better, bet it's going to be hard to say goodbye to them all but you did a wonderful thing!!
