After reading some news articles about Lady Gaga pulling out of the Take That concert in Manchester this weekend, I felt I wanted to say how pathetic some people are and if any of the "moaners" are on here I wanted to say that to you.

TWO things:

1) Lady Gaga pulled out for health reasons - if you fans were to ill to attend would people moan, no! So have some heart.

2) You bought tickets for a TAKE THAT concert and you got to see them didn't you?! How on earth can you complain that the support act didn't turn up.

Some people should grow up and stop moaning about non-issues for the sake of it!!

To quote a fan "How dare Lady Gaga not turn up? She lost herself 50,000 fans last night!" PATHETIC FAN

I Completley disagree.

She thinks shes bigger than she is just not showing up. Take That are bigger then she is and ever will be. The way she acts is ridiculous and i think she will of lost a lot of fans after doing this.

I kind of agree with you and I kind of don't
Yes you're right she can't help it if she's ill, unless her illness is to do with her smoking
But yes people bought tickets to see TT but some people may have been extra excited once they found out Lady GaGa was going to be there as well.
However I don't think you can call the fans pathetic just because they were gutted she didn't turn up.
In my opinion if she cancels her solo gig tonight in Manchester she will end up losing some fans.

the title of this thread should have been "Lady Gaga NOT supporting Take That"
Yes, we all bought the tix to see TT, I agree and IF she was REALLY ILL, fair enough. However, she seemed fine on Friday night in Glasto and all that "palava" (spelling?) aroudn MJ's death and how devastated she was makes me smile...
Interesting to see if she cancels her gig in manchester tonight...
The winner in all this is Gary Go, who has been there at every date to support TT and he even managed to fill in some of Lady Gaga's slot yesterday. He;s also supporting her tonight, so with some luck, if she does not turn up, he'll main the main act. What a way to start your career.

Went to the show last nite. Take That were amazing and were supported by Gary Go who was good plus The Script who were excellent. All in all a fantastic evening and no-one missed Lady Gaga at all.

Not strictly true.

LG has sold in excess of 20 million worldwide since last summer so she is bigger than Take That and will only continue to be bigger than Take That.

What a stupid argument. When people are paying money to see her, regardless of whether she's headlining they have every right to be pissed off. And comparing her no show to a fan not showing up is ridiculous, nobody pays to see the fans believe it or not.

Pretty pathetic yourself imo

I think the OP definitely has a valid point, fans have paid to see Take That, not Lady Gaga. Im pretty sure they didn't know she would be supporting when the tickets were booked, as most support acts are only announced a few weeks before the gig.

I can understand the anger if the actual band you paid to see didnt turn up, but come on, not the support act. Seriously, fans are there to see Take That, surely thats more important.

The official line for Lady Gaga not turning up was illness, yet it was reported in the Sunday papers that she had played a secret gig in London Saturday night! So work that out!

She was ill! Unless you know differently.

She did seem fine on Friday night, but it is possible to become ill with less than a day's notice you know? It is also possible she will be better for tonight's gig.

People should count themselves lucky they nearly saw her in the first place. The Cardiff programme featured someone called James Morrison wailing a load of guitar-based dirge, awful. At least Gary Go had a decent bit of 'oomph' factor.

Shame she had to pull out...from things I've read she does really care about fans...I expect the fact she turned up to the soundcheck meant she was hoping to play if possible and was probably told she shouldn't (her doctor advised her not to from what I've seen), I remember reading a blog before once when she had to cancel a couple of her own dates in America due to illness and was devastated letting people down and recheduled...she also didnt seem herself to me on Glastonbury (was amazing anyway but she still didn't seem herself somehow so maybe that was the sign she wasn't feeling too good).

She also has been in Japan, Singapore, Canada and many other places over the last 2 weeks and hasn't had a break for months and is probably physically exhausted - heard her say she only gets 5 hours sleep a night and the longest time shes had to herself in the last few months is 16 hours on a plane flight. The death of Michael Jackson probably emotionally drained her and caused her to be ill...difficult to carry on when you're physically and emotionally exhausted. Also she would want to make sure she's well for her own date today when people have paid to see her specifically (I know people who got tickets over the weekend might have got them to see her too, but I expect TT were the main attraction for most and at least they were there and it wasn't completely wasted).

I wouldn't fancy the schedule (loads of travelling, interviews, working on clothing, performing loads of shows, show set designing, working on re-release of The Fame to name a few things she's been busy with) and it's inevitable people can get ill...just it doesn't generally let down thousands of people unless you do a job like that! They wont let that many down unless absolutely necessary I'm sure will still perform if they can...shame she couldn't perform but hopefully she's rested now for upcoming shows

Anyway, that's just my thoughts!

Security at Old Trafford said the real reason she didn't go ahead was she wasn't happy with the lighting at OT.

She turned up to soundcheck on Saturday (hence TT were unable to do their soundcheck), and cancelled at the very last minute (Gary Go was just about to go on when she cancelled).

If I had anything to do with Take That personally I'd want the remaining support slots taken away from her there will be plenty of people that would be more than happy to replace her. As for the comment about people buying te tickets to see Take That the day after support was announced thousands of extra tickets were released and I'm sure people would've bought those tickets wanting to see Lady Gaga. Sometimes the support can make all the difference in a decision about if you should go see a band or not

Agree completely. Money was spent to see Take That, not Lady GaGa. It's a bonus if the support act is someone decent at a concert. She can't help being ill so people really need to get over it.

if shes actually ill then fair enough but if all these stories about lighting and secret gigs are true then I really don't think very much of her

Source those sales.

haha

Despite being around for years and years, Take That have only ever charted on the United World Chart twice (How Deep Is Your Love in 1996, Patience in 2006).

Lady Gaga has been around for less than a year, and has charted three times (Just Dance in 2008, Poker Face* and LoveGame in 2009). When they update the UWC next week, Paparazzi will be her official fourth.

* Worth noting, Poker Face is also the biggest song globally since Rihanna's Umbrella in 2007.

Yes, because her next album is really going to flop...

You can dislike her music or her as a person, but to turn a blind eye to her continued success makes you look silly.

Yeah, but Lady Gaga has a huge fanbase, and as long as she does more of the same, she'll do well.

maybe not if she takes time getting her next album out people will move onto something else and if she just keeps releasing the same stuff people will get bored
