Has David tennant now filmed his final scenes and has MAtt Smith started filming yet? Just wondering as I am on holiday in cardiff in a few weeks and wondered if any filming will be going on for either Xmas specials with DT or Series 5 with Matt Smith.

20th of July seems (stress seems) to be that start date. If true expect official publicity photos on the 17th.

Except it can't be Donna, as her head explodes in 4.18, while the master and Timothy Daltons character stand there laughing at the thought that people thought Karen Gillan was playing her.
Surely MS will have filmed a little Regeneration moment for the end of the Christmas special though, even if it is something as short as "...Barcelona?"

It's rumoured it's just a shot of him standing there silently in Tennants costume. However this rumour just may have come about due to RTD stating he isn't writing any 11 dialogue (but at the same time it would be a bit odd if he didn't want to write the final line of his final episode in charge.)

Which was shot well after the rest of the episode IIRC.

Your not wrong there.
It will have come down to what is easier. Getting Smith in for one day for the regeneration sequence during the filming of the specials, or filming a scene to the end at a later date whilst filming series 5 and adding the scene to the end of Tennant's last episode.
