I wonder if anyone who uses the HDR and an ITV West post code is having problems receiving ITV HD.

I have had the HDR for over 6 months now with no problems but the passed week or so it has failed to record any ITV HD content. Last week I reported on DS about having a blank screen after pressing the red button during a live broadcast of Spain, Paradise Lost. I know there were problems with this transmission with breaks and what looked like up scaled HD but I now realise that the problem with the blank screen is linked to ITV West.

Last night during the film of Wimbledon I pressed the red button and got a blank screen, now realising there is a problem I started to look for a solution. I remembered an unrelated post by grahamlthompson about using a post code that gives you ITV SW so I put a EX3 post code in the HDR and everything is back to working normally.

So is there a problem with ITV HD via ITV West or is my box just having a little tantrum?

There's only 1 ITV HD stream, it's not local so I wouldn't have thought the postcode would have any impact?

Thank for the reply, I know there is only one ITV HD transmission but I cannot get ITV HD with a Bristol postcode but can with an Exeter one.

I have been using a Technomate receiver for ITV HD lately and only using the HDR if something is series link. I missed 2 episode of Kingdom in a series link but thinking it was the ITV usual thing I did not take it on board until last nights blank screen.

This has only happened in the passed week or so as I have had no problems before. I will try later to put my Bristol postcode back in the box and see if that corrects it because it maybe just a software quirk.

It could be just doing a FreeSat retune fixed the problem

More likely the factory reset to change your postcode.

Thanks GT, I will go down the reset path if changing from EX postcode back to a BS postcode doesn’t work.

I just switch the HDR on to try changing back to my original postcode, then it dawn on me I cant because there is no ITV HD scheduled for today. I will give it ago tomorrow when The Bill is on and if it does not work I will be trying the reset way.

The box seems to be OK with the Exeter postcode and I use Freeview for ITV West SD content anyway.

Can you check what you have on channel 977? I'm in Scotland and I get given ITV1 London on 977. Useful for me because STV don't do HD at all (it doesn't translate well crossing the border apparently), but 977 has it (although the programme schedules are often very different).

Everyone get's 977 ITV London, ostensibly because it's audio described but as you say it gives non english postcodes access to ITV HD. If you use a london postcode you get ITV 1 London at 103 and 977, which is the only postcode to give you only 1 ITV region.
