It really annoys me how everytime the temperature rises we get bombarded about information about not leaving dogs in cars and yet people still insist on leaving babies and toddlers in cars with the windows closed.

What kind of idiots do they have working in that police force? I should hope a thorough investigation is in effect and someone is found guilty of this horrendous, thoughtless act. Those poor dogs. Poor, poor dedicated dogs who no doubt would have given their lives to protect the asshole who let them die such a horrid death.

The sad thing is they had kennels next to the police car park

This story saddened me very much. Those poor dogs cooked alive inside the handlers own car, (not the air conditioned dog handlers van), where the heat was estimated to have been around 116 degrees, far hotter than the outside temp of 80 plus.
This man has not even been suspended.

Words fail me for the action of the police officer causing the death of these dogs, hadn't he noticed we are in the middle of a heatwave.

Yesterday I took my cat to the vet and on the way back stopped off a supermarket and parked the car in their underground car park, I took the cat carrier into the store with me and got the few bits I needed, whilst Sophie talked her way round and she seemed to enjoy the attention she got.

My house really keeps the heat and I've got a tower fan for my goldfish tank to try and keep them cool.
To me it's just common sense, and to be honest I wouldn't allow that police officer to look after an egg, there is no excuse for what he did.

Very very SAD and I can't imagine what the poor dogs went through in this intense heat they could not escape from! !

As a dog lover and owner of three dogs, I can't believe that anyone with any intelligence would leave dogs in cars in warm weather! The heat at the moment is unbearable for me so goodness knows what those dogs went through as they had no way of cooling down and the poor things must have suffered in dreadful agony.

Any police dog handlers I have known have adored their dogs and would not have left them inside a car like these numpties did and I hope the police will be severely punished, just as members of the public would if they committed an act of animal cruelty!
