blood in kittens stool

our kitten, roxy, is 6 weeks old, and a happy playful little thing. she seems outwardly healthy, and apart from needing a little extra support keeping herself clean (she likes to stand in her poo, and subsequently need a wee bath to help her out a bit!) shes adjusting well to family life, despite being very young. the last poo she done was quite runny and had blood in it, was very noticeable. her stools are still quite soft at the moment anyway, but this (bace yourself for grafic description!) was like a thick gravy. obv, at this time of day there are no vets available, so was wondering if any of you clever people have any ideas? thanks in advance

was it bright red or dark?

usually if it's bright, there's less worry than if it were dark as it's from lower in the digestive tract, but it is still worrying

i'm not sure you'll get much info online really, best off calling the vet first thing in the morning and keeping an eye on her, could be colitis, in which case she'll need antibiotics
keep a sample of the movement if you can as your vet may want it

roxy has the vet this evening, will be taking along a stool sample. have washed all her bedding, cleaned and disinfected (and carefully rinsed) all her bowls trays and toys etc, and given her a bath cos the backs of her legs and under her tail were a mess are her stools are very loose at the moment.

Kittens can get dehydrated very quickly at such a young age, keep a close eye on her today - good luck at the vet this evening.

thank you. she has access to a large bowl of fresh water, wet food and some dry food soaked in kitten milk. she's taking small drinks frequently and passing urine easily, and her neck scruff is pinging back nicely too. am keeping a very close eye on her today x
