Getting burn marks out of saucepan
Poppy Seed
01-07-2009
I put some spuds on last night then husband and I got chatting to our neighbour over the wall, which turned into a cocktail and nibbles over the wall, and on returning to the kitchen we were greeted with the lovely smell of burned in potato!

One of our lovely Alessi pans is black inside. I'm sure with elbow grease it will come out, but is there a quicker fix to lift the black off?

soak it overnight in hot water with some fabric conditioner such as Lenor - then elbow grease but hopefully not too much.

Puth half a cup of Caustic soda in the pan, fill with boiling water and let stand for a while, it should help to clean the pan. Remember to wash the pan out thoroughly afterwards.

Boil it up with a dishwasher tab, and then leave to cool. It will come up like new. Just do NOT breath in the fumes !

Kim and Aggie advise boiling cheap cola in it.

Thanks for the tips!

I thought about the fabric softener, but we use Ecover and it's pretty pathetic!

Have left it with a dishwasher tab in, fingers crossed!
