I'll go for Busted, Radiohead, Elbow, The Darkness and Sugababes. There's always a teasing mix of clear favourite, kiddie crowdpleasers and one or two credible acts with no chance in hell of winning, this should fit the bill.

Sounds about right to me, probably Travis instead of Sugababes, and maybe the Stereophonics too - who would be left out if they made it in though?

The running has to be between Busted and The Darkness. Darkness should get it, but Busted probably will. Plus conveniently, I heard theres a new "Best Rock Act" award, so probably:

Best Rock Act - Darkness
Best Band - Busted

Fit up!

Best British act?

Well if The "Brits" goes the same direction as The MTV Europe Music awards then I would have to guess:

Best Britiish Male: Justin Timberlake
Best British Female: Beyonce
Best Album: Stripped: Christina Aguilera
Best British Single: Get busy - Sean Paul

Libertines are a good outside bet actually, but Coldplay don't qualify as they've not have substantial new material out. I was gonna put The Thrills too, but I think they're from Southern Ireland and therefore not British. This correct?

The most interesting category for me is the best british rock, with bands like Muse, Feeder and the Darkness. It should be quite close but my bet is Muse!

Christina aguliera's album can't win, it got such a bad rating. A few good songs but so uneven.

How do they define 'best' though?. Is it the biggest selling?, or do the public vote?, or is it just the opinion of a panel of 'experts'?.

I think that most of the awards are decided by a panel of experts, and a couple are voted for in kids magazines and TV programmes.

I've always viewed the Brit awards as a joke and these nominations don't change that opinion!
