Im not sure who It was about.. so dont quote me on this. It was during the Hot shots section of the show. I think It might have been Busted..
Ian i think his name is, from the lost prophets went of on a rant about how manufactured acts are ruining the industry and the people who make real music dont get enough credit.

Good on him for having the guts to say that on a live show, nobody else has.. All they seem to do is praise these acts to the ceiling usually.

Did anyone else see it ?

He then went on to say P Diddy's career is flopping at the moment and thats the only reason why hes calaborated with Pharrel and Lennie Kravitz on that new track.

I saw it, but you seemed to hear something different to me

My take on it was, that he didn't mind manufactured acts, he just didn't like them trying to pretend to be "real" bands. He said he didn't mind pop, because thats what he'd grew up with.

He was also asked by Kat whether P Diddy's career is flopping at the moment and thats the only reason why hes calaborated with Pharrel and Lennie Kravitz on that new track, but he wasn't too keen on answering, and said he said he didn't think that was the reason, in a roundabout way.

It was particularly a dig at McFly and Busted - manufactured bands pretending to be 'real'.

It was quite amusing though, with all the teenage girl Busted fans in the audience booing him, and him shouting back at them

Don't think it was trying to be either.

Did anybody not notice Michelle from pop Idol sitting 2 places next to him, while he was ranting about Manufactured "Miracles" she must of been feeling well unhappy! But I was behind him all of the way with his speech!

Only thing is, Busted are not manufactured. I can't stand their music, their lyrics are worthless garbage but all credit to them. They're just a bunch of young lads doing exactly what I wished I was doing at their age.

Busted are manufactured. They were put together by the a managment team who specifically wanted to tap into the pop/punk 'scene'. They went through several line up changes before the team were happy with them.
There songs are mostly written by co writers, such as John McLaughlin.

So isn't it a sad indictment of the much-vaunted 'real talent' that 'isn't getting a chance to shine' - that they're simply not good enough to beat the Busted Conglomerate who are, like it or not, the best thing going in British pop music at the moment?

At the end of the day, the end product is king. And perhaps BECAUSE they've got the money, talent and muscle of the writers and producers behind them, Busted are producing the best end product. I defy any band to beat them on their own.

By that do you mean Rock or Pop bands?!

I agree with the statement that they are the only thing going for British pop at the moment, the amount of copies being done by artists is gradually having an adverse reaction with the public. At least Busted are performing their own songs, whether they are written by themselves or not.

My statement wasn't that they are the ONLY thing going for British pop at the moment - it was that they were the BEST thing going for British pop.

And if you'd cut and pasted my first paragraph, you'd see that i was talking about pop music. I'm not saying Busted are the best band in the world, but i am saying that with the backing they have and the talent at their disposal, their end product is.

I agree entirely, I just didn't understand the bands bit, but now you have cleared it up I do.

I always crack up laughing when I hear Busted speak! There again the Darkness are fairly refined, so maybe it's a new trend for well spoken nice boys (a'la Chris Martin) to take the Rock N Roll route!

Yeah, the tall guy is a rather good chap, old boy. Went to school with Prince Wills, don't you know, gets invited to the palace now and again. Absolutely spiffing old bean - makes you wonder if one of the reasons they picked him, was because they noticed the well spoken Prince William was a hit with the ladies round the world.

Prince William may join Busted someday! Of course they would try and pretend he's from the US underground Punk scene.
