I was hoping someone would say that. This series of Torchwood IS a mini-series. If the next
series is 13 episodes over 13 weeks, then that should be considered series 3, not series 4.

(Or season, if you prefer to call it that.)

Ahhh, but surely we're splitting hairs here - after all a mini-series is still a mini-series.

A series it maybe, but with only 5 episodes made for broadcast during one week, it's still a mini-series.

I stand by the view that it shouldn't really be considered series 3 proper, unless the Torchwood we
get next year (assuming more Torchwood is commissioned by the BBC for next year) is produced
and broadcast in the same or similar mini-series format as what we're getting next week.

Anyway, surely one of the reasons for the cut-down helping of TW this year, is also due to much
of the same reasons why we're only getting a handful of special Doctor Who episodes as well.

I'm definitely curious to see what form S4 (or S3) of Torchwood will take. I'm warming up to the idea of a mini-series, although I can't help thinking it is counter-intuitive.

I know the show is made for the BBC Licence Payer, but it will surely hurt it's overseas success. It sounded like it was going over very well in the States, but a five episode arc is bound to nip that in the bud a tad.

I never mentioned Pitch Black in reference to that turd. In retrospect "On the Buses" or "Summer Holiday" would be a more apt comparison.

Wake me up when Davies has an original idea.

I'll be out, but have set V+ to record the series. Am wondering whether to watch it each night when I come home, or wait until the end of the week then watch the whole thing in one go.

On the one hand, if I wait I'll miss out on all sorts of cliffhangers (and have to avoid certain areas of the internet for a week), but on the other, it would be great to watch the whole thing like a film, and not waste work time gnawing fingernails and shouting at the clock to speed up if the cliffhangers are good!

It should have got the 10:30 slot there, after the second showing of EastEnders. Would have been a good slot and lead in for viewers who are watching their usual shows in the 9pm slot and hoping to catch-up later on. Enders get's between 500,000 and a million in the 10:00 slot depending on the episode, ensuring it a good audence.
