The OP asked if you can record from SKy HD it's very doubtfull if this is possible, only hope is some clever tecchie can convert H264 to mt2s and make it look like a camcorder recording. You can't record from hdmi it's a one way source to display connection enforced by hdcp, and as you say it's to do with drm. HD can be copied if the source outputs analogue HD over a component connection and it's connected to a recorder that can record HD from component.
