I have an 11 week old male budgie and would love to try and make him talk. Any of you been successful in this? How was it achieved?

All info gratefully recieved

Just keep speaking to him, repeating over and over and he will eventually copy what you are saying.

Cocks are reputedly better talkers than hens,
but at that age it is not easy to tell them apart but in any case you need to start with a youngster.
Stick to one word at a time and repeat that word when you talk to the budgie, several times a day, until the budgie repeats it then move on to another.
Generally budgies will only copy human speech if they are single budgies, reasonably tame (otherwise they are too scared of you approaching to be relaxed enough to learn) and have no other budgies to talk to in budgie.

For budgies to learn to talk you should start with easy things such as the telephone and little tunes and then progress to speaking.

Cleverer birds will talk on their own if you chat a lot to them. You will notice them practicing.
