Greetings All
After retune yesterday EPG for Five, ITV 3 & 4 was wiped, also EPG download failed last 2 nights via the trusty DHD 4000 & Sutton Coldfield. Quest has appeared tho'. Condolences to the many who appear to have suffered worse from the re-tune. Press today quotes 20 million free-to-air digital users. Surely thats a big enough audience for the advertisers to care about keeping happy.
Cheers

Others having the same problem?”

As you say – here we go again. Logs show that it’s pretty much the same as the previous occasions when it has failed. This time it’s worse since due to the Freeview re-tune we have no EPG whatsoever for channel 5 and the other channels that moved.

For the third time in the last couple of months I have carefully crafted a message in their contact form, only for it to yet again blow up. Aldert, you were lucky last time in successfully getting through to them – do you fancy seeing if your luck is still holding?

It wasn't when I tried this morning! At 0900 today I emailed the personal address I have for someone there, but I have no idea if it got through.

Software download? Do you mean EPG download?

My father-in-law's box locked up during the rescan (found all the muxes, found all of the appropriate stations, then hung saying "wait", or words to that effect).

He power cycled, and after a couple of cycles where the box was unresponsive there are (apparently) no lights on the front now. Sounds like coincidence to me, but I'll get my hands on the box at the weekend and have a quick play - probably a PSU failure. Anyone else seen this?

Mine did that on Wednesday, but one power recycle and it was OK again. I rescanned on Thursday and it completed as per normal.

It didn't do that bit, thank goodness.

I have received an acknowledgement to say that they are investigating the problem.

I have no listings for Five and ITV4 and a couple more.
I can't record anything off Five until this gets fixed.

I think I will do a factory reset and scan for new channels again.
However If I do a factory reset will I lose all my recordings on the DHD4000 ?

No point. You'll just have to wait for the EPG to be fixed, like the rest of us.

You can still set recordings manually for the missing channels, thought it will be a pain in the arse...

ok thanks. I have a weekly recording scheduled for a show called FlashForward on Five that was in Record List before the retune. If Five haven't moved places on the EPG then this should work next Monday shouldn't it ?

I'm not sure, but I have my doubts. It might tune to where Five used to be - it's one of the channels that physically moved.

If it were me, I'd try it (assuming the EPG isn't fixed by then anyway), and it it goes wrong just catch the repeat.

I'm watching that series myself, and as I seldom watch anything live I'll be wanting to record it myself, one way or another!

I see it's repeated a few times on Five and also Fiver so no sweat if I miss it on Monday. Just wanted to catch it before everyone talks about it at work !

If your weekly recording was added before the change on Wednesday, then you'll need to delete it and add it again once the EPG issue is fixed.

Or, add a manual weekly recording.

It will not record otherwise.

Thanks,

Not Thomson, it is Inview that provide the downloads and, yes they are.

The epg use to be downloaded from channel 300 on MUX D. At least from Crystal Place that channel has disappeared. This means that before a new epg is downloaded the channel has to be reinstated and then another retune is required.

Inview's contact details can be found at:

The EPG seems to be downloading fine for me, using the Midhurst transmitter in the South region and a Thomson G1 box. I have a fully populated EPG, except for LCN 33 (ITV2+1) which I assume is blanl because ITV haven't sorted themselves out and provided the necessary info.

I wondered about that possibility, but this source claims it's still there, and it claims to be there on my box too - though I have to admit I have no idea how I'd tell if it was working or not other than through a successful EPG download!

What makes you sure this is the problem?

I thought I was sure because an hour ago I retuned a PVR and it tuned into all the expected channels apart from 300 and there is no sign of 4TVInteractive any where.
But if yu have retuned and still have channel 300 then it looks as though I was just unlucky and retuned when someone was fiddling about with the channels in the MUX.

I'll retune again tomorrow evening and see if I can pick up 300 then.
