How does the EPG between freesat and Sky compare?

I would be interested to hear views of people who too have migrated across the platforms.

I have been conscious for some time the planner on the Sky box is full of programs I could have received on either freeview or freesat. Consequently I'm wondering why I am paying sky

I think the thing keeping me with Sky is the simplicity of the EPG (I have the new HD EPG but was just as happy with the old version) and its functionality etc. i.e. series link etc, However, back to my question : how do the EPG's compare?

I migrated across about 6 months ago, and I prefer the Freesat EPG now. Series Link, in general, is good, but relies on the broadcaster coding the series up correctly.

Here is a link to the Foxsat HDR Wiki screenshots, which has one of the EPG. If you navigate to the other pages of the Wiki, you will find lots of information.

Rgds.

The Freeview+ (and Freesat+) features like Alternate Instance Recording and Clash Resolution are definite one-ups on Sky. Although, as others have said, it depends on the channels coding it up properly.

Indeed, if there are so many programmes that can be viewed without a sub on satellite or freeview then regardless of the EPG you should be looking to save some cash barring the initial purchase price of new kit.

Its better, looks more modern and as the others have said, you get offered alternative airing dates if you try and record 3 things at once.

Also, you could buy an HDR plus HDTV for the price you pay Sky for 18 months.

I prefer the freesat epg, love the search feature for upcoming movies that saves time - and the feature that warns you if your trying to record a 3rd program it gives you that option of when its on again.

top bit of kit love it.

Thanks all for your responses,
I'll definitely be calling $ky to cancel. Just hope they have some decent music for me to listen to whilst I'm in their queuing system...

Good reasons would be more HD content, few more entertainment channels, film channels, sports - if you don't use those then yes you should be wondering why.

It's all about the HD content.
You know there's nothing worth watching on HD when you end up watching something you normally wouldn't watch just to say, the picture is quite good.

I soon realised this and cancelled.

Thanks for that link. I only obtained Freesat/Foxsat three weeks ago. So, lots of stuff I've yet to discover/use.
