If you have 2 cables, try this :-
Go to 951 BBC 1 CI and start an instant recording, go to 108 BBC HD and start another instant recording. Now tune any other channel and press pause. If you can pause a 3rd channel your stb is working correctly, if not you need to do a factory reset. (You can record two channels at the same time using just one tuner if they are one the same transponder, so this is not a true test).

I started today by checking Diagnostics on the FoxSat menu which showed 2 tuners each with 100% strength and 90 % quality. The signal cables are out of a 4 outlet LNB and one of the other cables is doing good business on my Technomate.
Can the Diagnostic service be trusted, the values sound too good to be true.
I then carried out Les' suggested procedure and everything worked fine. Don't really understand your last comment " So this is not a true test ", Les.
I then tried to repeat the problem encountered yesterday by setting up a watch on BBC HD and a record on BBC 2 and had the same sort of conflict as yesterday.
I then went to Automan's suggestion and checked Schedule and here I think lies the solution.
I appeared to have multiple instances of the 'Watch' and 'record' that I had instructed.
I cleared out the schedule and then repeated the watch and record procedure but with only the briefest of key presses and everything worked correctly.
My thanks to all for your help.
Sandy
PS when I look at the Media screen I can understand the Enc and HD codes at the ends of various lines but what is the red G
