Are you tired of hearing the same songs over and over again?

Do you feel that music radio doesn't play all the music you want to hear when you want to hear it even when flicking around stations? Have you yet to find that perfect internet station?

Why not take the challenge to create the best music station you've ever heard using a free service such as Spotify, Deezer, We7 and share it with DS and everyone you know? Most of you reading this are no doubt already well aware of such services even if you don't already have an account. In any case you can easily create not just playlists but an entire music station for free using a service such as Spotify or Deezer and using listings websites such as http://www.sharemyplaylists.com/ effectively broadcast it to any country which has access to those services - so why not? I started building my own music station 3 months ago and I think it would be great to hear other people's music stations and the best thing about it is that unlike traditional internet radio it doesn't cost you a penny more than a broadband connection.

Many people here clearly know and love their music and I think that some brilliant music stations could be created that would knock the spots off what you can hear on the radio. So lets hear them!

I've already posted a link to mine here:

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...63568&page=148

Also if a trend started with people more generally creating their own music stations not just on Digital Spy I think we could see a major change in how music radio is done in the next few years - for instance no more tight playlists because people wouldn't tolerate them anymore.

- Now lets hear what you can do!

Great start especially for your first ever time! Most of the music in there I like

Seven tears - nice to hear that I haven't heard that one for goodness knows how many years!

It's not exactly creating a "music station" really, is it

I could have some real fun with this. I've resisted Spotify so far but think I'll have to give this a go.

This should be a very useful tool in searching for those forgotten hits. Mine is bound to have a definite 90s slant.

One question, is there a maximum limit of songs in a single playlist?

It's no different to any internet station playing non stop music. Whilst I'd love to add sung jingles in between the songs e.g. "SKYWAVE - Europe's Greatest Hit Radio Station", unfortunately I haven't got any more money than I did in 1996 when we were broadcasting across the whole of Europe with 3 Megawatts of music power on 1350 AM on a TDK tape (- I wasn't an adult at the time). Believe me though if I had deep enough pockets I'd do it but not as an internet only station - internet radio is a financial black hole in almost all cases.

The secret's out! I have a master playlist of over 7000 songs taken from that - and that's just the 80s and 90s - I have also researched 1950s music so far but got bored halfway through and have yet to finish the decade, the 60s and 70s when I finally get around to doing them should be much more enjoyable.

There is absolutely no limit to how many songs you can add.

Spotify is so addictive once you get into it that I stopped watching tv! - I still go out whenever the sun's shining though.

Just has a quick flick through of the first 50 or so before Spotify stopped me and there is some brilliant stuff in there - including a few I forgot to put in the SKYWAVE playlist!

My main playlist SKYWAVE now has 1670 tracks - 5 full days of music. And another missing piece of the jigsaw has been found with some of the greatest music by Don Henley now finally now on there.

http://open.spotify.com/user/skywave...yz2eG5qr8vZ505

As it's starting to get harder to find great music from the 80s and 90s on my master playlist I'm going to take a pause from adding many more tracks to this playlist until I've finished going through the music of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Expect the playlist to double in size then. At the end of the year I will also add all of the best music from this decade. Hopefully by next year it will be sounding awesome.

In the meantime I will continue adding music to SERENITY radio.

I'm now busy adding all my music to Deezer - I hope to have the international version fully up and running within the next few days so wherever you go you can hear SKYWAVE - and what's even better it's already available on the iPhone!:

What's the song availability like on Deezer? Comparable to Spotify? I noticed quite a few holes in what I wanted to add to my 90s playlist on Spotify. Would consider starting afresh if availability is any better.

Until very recently you get all the good stuff that has never been available on Spotify e.g. Pink Floyd. All that's now been withdrawn. Now it's broadly the same as Spotify though as it's a French site you can listen to French and European music not available on Spotify. There is also some music that isn't available on Spotify e.g. you can listen to the full Cock Robin album on Deezer yet only two tracks are available on Spotify, yet you cannot listen to the Lotus Eaters on Deezer which is available on Spotify.

The same things appear to be happening on Deezer as on Spotify for instance Kate Bush's Hounds of Love album was available in full on Spotify then it got withdrawn along with many of the most popular tracks from several names. About a month later the same happened on Deezer. I wouldn't be surprised if the record companies are tempted to withdraw all the popular money making tracks from all the free licensed services and we'll just be left with the less popular stuff that doesn't sell so well, then you'll see an increase in illegal downloads again.

I've been keeping records of my playlist on a spreadsheet so that I still have a record of all the tracks that I added to the playlist even if they get withdrawn, I lock myself out of my account or someone manages to hack it!

That's interesting. I've heard adds on Spotify crowing on about "thousands of new tracks" being added all the time. But in reality the stuff people would actually want to listen to is steadily being taken away is it?

I suppose it should be expected. You don't get owt for nowt and all that...

Some of it is - I've added tracks from Kate Bush and Katie Melua, Travis etc only for them to be taken away again. Then I noticed all my George Michael songs had disappeared, though they were available on an alternative album. I hope they don't go down the road of taking everything that is popular off the site if they do then it takes away the whole point of it - it's not Spotify or Deezer though the record companies dictate what can and cannot be played.

Microsoft has announced the imminent launch of a streaming music service.

The software giant will provide the as-yet-unnamed product through its MSN news and entertainment portal, The Daily Telegraph reports.

MSN executive producer Peter Bale said: "Music is an important area for Microsoft. We are looking at launching a music streaming service imminently.

"It will be a similar principle to Spotify but we are still examining how the business model will work."

He added: "We are looking at how other similar businesses have structured their business models and trying to figure out what will work best for both consumer and Microsoft."

It is believed that the service could be supported by adverts as well as having a paid-for premium option.

Bale suggested that the service could be tied into the Xbox console and Microsoft's portable Zune music player, while the company is currently in discussions with several potential download partners

one major problem with Spotify is that there are no Beatles, essential on any radio (IMO)

Unfortunately either the surviving Beetles or their labels won't licence the songs, yet you can hear many of Paul McCartney's tracks on Spotify
