Version 1.00.18 is the version that fixes the lockup problem. I would expect it to be transmitted via the normal engineering channel in the near future unless Humax are holding back until they have resolved the retunr pop up problem.

I made the point to a friend that satellite PVR's seem much smoother and far less prone to crashing. I recently bought a 9300T to record FTA channels and I also use a Sky+ HD box. The Sky product is so much more stable and has such a sophisticated EPG and PVR that the Humax DTT PVR seems to be from a previous age. I'm told the Freesat PVR from Humax is much better than the Freeview PVR and I can believe that as it surely can't be as clunky as the 9300T. If I had to have just one system I'd chose the Sky+ HD PVR but as I have a free choice I also have a 9300T but I regret buying it rather than the Humax Freesat HD PVR for only £75 more.

Mine has locked up twice since I received the new software.

Both times when using the remote and possibly like you on BBC.

It has however stopped locking up when left in standby, which was the main PITA previously.

I'm not so sure the update fixes the locking up either, mine hasn't locked up for several weeks now, and it has not been updated (still on .15)

Mine's been ok over Christmas so far but the annoying retune screen is still popping up. Any news on that? Thought it was supposed to have dispareared by now.

Just before Xmas I purchased a 9300T (to replace a problematic 9200T that will only record two programs at a time) only to find from day one the locking up issue as reported here. On my system it can occur 2-3 times a day. It would appear that in line with most of the other postings the lockup only occurs when the 9300T is set on a BBC station / multiplex.

Can anyone advise me if I have missed the OTA Software vers UPTTF 1.00.18 update, or when the update is expected to be released?

As I don't have an RS232 serial socket on my laptop and no sign of the latest software being sent ota I rang Humax this morning and asked when it would be sent ota. The reply was ' I don't know, should be within the next few weeks'
I asked if this meant I would have a useless pvr until then and was told 'yes'. I then told him 'no, it's going back to Comet as unfit for purpose' This I did and obtained a full refund after having to explain to the manager that it was down to Humax that it was not fit to be sold. I went home, formatted the hrd drive on my 9200T which is now performing as before. Very disappointed with Humax service and will be long time before I buy again from them again.

That was lucky for you, so your 9200 is still performing quite well.

Yes, thanks for your advice. I can't believe that Humax don't tell retailers to install the latest software before selling it - surely they could put it out as a cd or something - it's causing damage to their reputation. The whole subject of pvrs seems to be a minefield with so many conflicting opinions about brand, performance etc that it's a bit like picking a winning lottery ticket. I have to say that until I had a problem with the wiped hard drive my 9200T has performed well for nearly 3 years and I assumed the 9300T would be an improvement which it may well turn out to be but not yet!

I don't think you can expect retailers to be opening boxes and loading software onto every machine of every make that happens to be in stock when new software is released, personally I only accept an unopened box when I buy a new bit of kit. You can get a Null Modem Cable for a few quid and be able to update your own software at will, no need for a CD the files are on the Humax web-site.

I agree that PVRs are a bit of a minefield, my 9200 works very well and yet so many other people are having so much trouble.

Take your points Les but to sell an item which won't work until a manufacturer admitted problem is resolved I think is wrong - ok for people who look at this excellent forum and have a pc but for someone who is an IT virgin it would be a major problem - I can think of 2 relatives who would be baffled by this. At the very least it should be pointed out at the time of purchase that it needs the latest software to function as reliable recording device.

My 9300 which is about a year old, has been locking out several times a week regularly since installation - I only put up with it as I have a 9200 to fall back on which works on the same coax feed without a problem, thus I assumed it to be a software issue.

I'm happy to report that the .18 update seems to have cured all the lockups. Been a couple of weeks now without a problem.
