I'm chuffed for the first time ever with the nominations:

Darkness, Dizzee Rascal, Radiohead, Bowie, Outkast, Thrills, Blur, Damien Rice.......bloody brilliant selection, hopefully they're finally waking up and honouring actual quality and innovation over the flavours-of-the-month. . Five actual dance acts are nominated for Best Dance Act too, which makes a change.

How has Beck wangled a nomination though? He hasn't had a record out since September 2002, and even that was the bleakest, most testing CD he's done.

Some good nominations for a change. Even Kings Of Leon and Damien Rice get a mention Somehow I don't think they'll win though

But why are the Best British Single nominations always so crap every year? Surely there have been better singles than the likes of Misteeq and Rachel Stevens

It's not one of those 'Sun Reader Vote' things is it?

Best British single seems a bit of a joke - apparently based on record sales - doesn't mean that single is actually the *best*, does it?
How long until Rachel Stevens (sweet dreams my la ex) fades from collective memory, compared with The Darkness( I believe in a thing called love)? Couldn't the Brits committee consult on radio play, requested songs, etc., rather than units?

Will Young for Best British Male - yippee!

The reason his album and single weren't in the list was that they were released too late for this year. 19 November is the cut off date according to another forum I have just read.

Considering how well he has done, he will no doubt be nominated next year.

Otherwise, I'm not bothered about any of them.

That's even more annoying then. It should be called "Best Selling British Single" rather than just "Best Single". I suppose it does explain why this category is so bad every year

Last year it was based on the top 5 selling British singles but they've changed the rules again this year, probably so they didn't get a list comprising of only reality TV acts presumably.

This year the Best Single category nominations are based on the 5 British singles which received the most airplay on the UK Top 40 Airplay Chart.

just because they arent eligable to go in the actual categories, it doesnt mean that they cant be taken into consideration when judging best male.

obviously i want Will to win. but im not confident he will.

best single is a total joke this year - I dont consider that any of them could be considered anywhere near the 'best' anything.

Dido hasnt got any competition for best british female so shes going to walk it. Hope that Daniel Bedingfield steals the best album award though.

And WTF are they on nominating BEP for best pop? the mind boggles.
