With drama the first episode always gets a lot more viewers than later episodes. I think as long as it doesn't fall below 4 million it should be fine for a new series next year.
I think the BBC would want to keep the drama going - look how disastrous Totally Saturday was! 2.1million and...... cancelled.”
Hopefully yesterday's cliffhanger, the intriguing to a newbie fact that Jack can't die, the bit of character development during the family scenes yesterday and most of the BBC 2 and 3 viewers staying with it will help it keep it's head above 5 million tonight and 4.5 million for the rest of the week.
The competition increases as the week goes on, but if enough enjoyed it the good start should help it stay above 4.
Depends on if it keeps up pace I guess. A few critics have said that eps 2 and 3 aren't quite as good as 1, but they also said it picks back up.
Does anyone remember if they told viewers before the next time or during the credits that the show continues tomorrow?
I think it just said 'next time' in which case, there might be some viewers who hadn't seen all the ads and just channel flicked to it who assume it's next week.
