Either Broadcast has made a big mistake, or this will be happening:

Prima ballerina Darcy Bussell is to join Alesha Dixon on the judging panel of Strictly Come Dancing after the BBC confirmed that Arlene Philips is to step down.

BBC1 controller Jay Hunt has also confirmed widespread reports that judge Arlene Philips will be replaced by former contestant Alesha Dixon – but denied allegations of ageism. The BBC1 series will launch this year with shows on consecutive Friday and Saturday nights.

I wish these talent/reality shows wouldn't show the performance and results shows on consecutive days.

It's just TV companies copying the American system, but they do it due to the time zone differences, with the voting lines closing at different times

What will I do on a Sunday night?

I can only assume that based on this line from the BBC Press Office:

These changes are part of the new format of this year's show – more will be revealed later in the year.
...that Broadcast has leaked the day change if true.

Well all it says is that it will launch on a Friday and Saturday night.

That could just mean the first week will have the men on the Friday night and the women on the Saturday. Maybe an attempt to shorten the time before they join together?

yeh maybe they are doing that coz surely that gives the dancers and celebs less time to learn the dances coz the pros before have said they think choeography on the sunday and fine tune it then and then start the dance on the monday by doing this they are bot giving them a day off really i think they should just stick to the saturday and sunday shows or put it back to being all on a saturday...

that would be a good idea, two nights on the trot, get the boys and girls thing over in one week.

I hope so I like that idea.

I'm guessing a preview show on the Friday like last year's where they run through the celebrities. The big live show is the main draw. I doubt they're going to broadcast it on a Friday night, which is a wind-down for the weekend time, not a big razzle-dazzle show time.

Also iFriday night is less germane for the constant scheduling shuffle they need to do with different show running times/start times etc. Eastenders/ the news are bulwarks that will not be moved.

There is nothing on the BBC Press Office site that I can find about it now being on a Friday........thats got to be a mistake I think, I agree with Monkseal perhaps its just a Friday night show to set things in motion and get all the introductions out of the way.

It sounds like just a special launch show and the rest of the series won't be on Friday.

The press announcement says the show will launch with successive Friday and Saturday shows, not that it will be shown on fridays nd Saturdays. It could be that the Friday show is a one off where we meet the pros and their new partners. Last year this programme was shown quite separately from the series, It does make a nice intro to a new series.
