What can/can't I freeze and how long will it keep???
i was hoping some of you foodies might be able to help me.
long story short, i'm due to give birth in september, plan on breastfeeding so don't think i will have an awful lot of time to cook proper meals from scratch. i do, however, want to eat pretty well whilst breastfeeding so was thinking of making huge batches of meals a week or 2 before my due date and freezing them. so far i want to freeze spaghetti bolognaise, savoury mince and vegetables and my mother's gorgeous chicken soup/stew. i know i can freeze the bolognaise, not too sure about the savoury mince and definately not sure about the chicken soup/stew as it contains chicken (obviously!) and also rice. can anyone advise? also, how long can i freeze these recipes for, is there a time limit? and whilst i'm on, has anyone got any freezer friendly, nourishing recipes that they could share? thanks

Good on you for breastfeeding - I insisted my wife did though I wasn't keen on the taste
I freeze all those things you mention and more - don't think there's anything I haven't frozen. I just have a habit of making big portions and freezing anything left over including sauces and gravies. |

Chicken stew will be fine - I freeze chicken stews and casseroles all the time. Defrost them through the day or overnight in the fridge, and then make sure you heat up thoroughly before eating.

The general rule with meat is, if it's been previously frozen, don't freeze it again until it has been cooked.
