That's brilliant news. Up on last years premiere (6.29m). Isn't that a first for years. I know BB7, BB8, BB9 and BB10 premieres were down on the previous season, so that's quite an acheivement

Positive ratings again, still on the up: Quote:
Sunday July 12th Ratings
Big Brother averaged an estimated 6.76 million, but a very low 2.0 in the demo last night. The total viewers (if it holds up) was the most watched first episode of the Sunday edition ever in Big Brother! Due to Big Brother being delayed by 10 minutes, the ratings are not very accurate. Here is what CBS averaged from 8pm-9:30pm. Big Brother aired from 8:11pm-9:11pm 8:00pm. Viewers: 7.40 million (#1), A18-49: 1.9/ 7 (#1) 8:30 p.m. Viewers: 6.12 million (#1), A18-49: 2.0/ 6 (#1) 9:00 p.m. Viewers: 5.75 million (#1), A18-49: 1.2/ 4 (#2) Here was the ranking of shows in Big Brother's time slot. Big Brother 6.76 million 2.0/7 CBS (Estimated) Extreme Makeover: Home Edition ® 4.99 million 1.3/4 ABC Merlin 3.65 million .9/3 NBC The Simpsons ®/King of the Hill ® 3.45 million 1.7/6 Fox (Average for the hour) Movie: Hoosiers 1.07 million .3/1 CW The Top 5 of the day in total viewers 1. 60 minutes 6.89 million CBS (Estimated) 2. Big Brother 6.76 million CBS (Estimated) 3. Without a Trace ® 5.97 million CBS (Estimated) 4. Cold Case ® 5.62 million CBS (Estimated) 5. Meteor (Mini Series) 5.04 million NBC The top of the day in demos 1. Family Guy ® 2.1 Fox 2. Big Brother 2.0 CBS (Estimated) 3. The Simpsons ® 1.9 Fox (9:30pm) 4. The Simpsons ® 1.8 Fox (8pm) 5. King of the Hill ® 1.5 Fox These ratings are definitely an improvement compared to last season. Big Brother 10 launched last season on a Sunday and were the ratings. 6.29 million viewers and 2.1. So the demos dropped slightly, but the viewers were much higher. A better comparison is the second Sunday episode from last season. 5.77 million viewers and 1.9 in the demos. Here are the first Sunday ratings from BB9, BB8, and BB7 BB9: 6.73 million and 2.2 BB8: 5.93 million and 2.1 BB7: 5.832 million and 2.1 |

That's extremely good for BB. Only lost 0.12m on the premiere. Hope the rest of this series performs as well. Hopefully that means BB12 will be on the way. Early days yet though...

The show tonight will take a rating dip as it usually does. America's Got Talent (NBC) and So You Think You Can Dance (Fox) traditionally pull better numbers than CBS on Tuesdays. It's also an hour later than Sunday and Thursday shows.

BB12 is a given. BB makes CBS a lot of money--costs are next to nothing to run the show.

Can I ask, what is this 2.0 business about?
I understand what a demographic is, but I dont get the 2.0... Is it a percentage or a number out of 10 or something?

Tuesday August 4th Ratings
Big Brother saw growth in both total viewers and demos vs last week last night. 6.58 million tuned (6.16 last week) and 2.4 (2.1) last week. The 2.4 was also a season high! The biggest news is that for the first time that I can recall, Big Brother beat Hell's Kitchen in total viewers! Big Brother also finished in 4th place for the night in total viewers (was #7 last week) and finished #3 in the demos (#6 last week)! 9pm Hour Show, viewers, demos (share/rating) network America's Got Talent 12.55 million 3.3/10 NBC Big Brother 6.58 million 2.4/7 CBS More To Love 4.06 million 1.9/6 Fox Supserstars/ Scrubs (R) 2.22 million .8/3 ABC Hitched Or Ditched (R) 1.08 million .5/1 CW The Top 5 of the day in total viewers 1. BB11 hit a season high last night in overall viewers and in demos: Quote:
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire returned to the prime-time airwaves for the first time in 5 years, and to celebrate its 10 year anniversary with the first of 11 episodes over the next two weeks. I thought Millionaire would do better, but I thought wrong. Millionaire averaged 6.988 million and a 1.6/5 (rating/share) with adults 18-49. Big Brother averaged 7.20 million and a 2.5/8 with adults 18-49.
But NBC won the night overall with a repeat hour of Dateline and Sunday Night Football exhibition game featuring the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans. In the 8pm hour, against Millionaire and Big Brother, the game averaged 8.12 million viewers and a 2.9/8 with adults 18-49. The debut of ABC’s Shark Tank kind of tanked. Tank averaged 4.23 million at 9pm and a 1.3/4 with adults 18-49. Meanwhile ABC’s Defying Gravity slipped further into obscurity averaging a mere 2.805 million and a 1.0/3 with adults 18-49 at 10pm. I’ll try to work in the rest of the show data below later, check back… Shows are sorted from highest 18-49 rating to lowest in each time slot. Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2009 The Nielsen Company. Great to see this season is doing well, even though most of the likeable houseguests have already been evicted.
