"Irresponsible" does not begin to describe your actions.

our jake in't really one for destroying things, he'll go as far as removing the squeekers to roll around with chewing, but he does the same with the toys!

i just stitch them up once he's managed it (it takes him weeks) but the toys are all still fine
i's missey who pulls all the stuffing out of things & destroys them, the little madam!
she literally has about two toys of her own, as she's not really one for playing, a big white teddy bear that she's had since she was spayed (it's more patches than bear these days) and a big dog teddy i got my sister last christmas. but she ended up giving it to miss, he seems to have survived her shredding ways
some of jake's toys don't however, but same as hers, i just stuff the filling back in & stitch them up

i got jake a TY garfield and the dog version of stinky the skunk for christmas & he loves them, they're still in perfect nick, bar the usual drool crustiness & dirt
they have that crackly stuff in them as well as squeekers

I found out a long time ago that it can get very expensive to keep buying stuffed toys for my dog 'Stig'

A lot of the time he just carries them round, and 'mouth's them without doing any damage, then eventually a seam will open, and there's stuffing everywhere.
He doesn't exactly shred them, he tends to open a hole somewhere, then pull the stuffing out of that hole.
I buy them from car boot sales for about 50p (have you seen the price of soft dog-toys in pet-shops? )
Then simply collect the stuffing, shove it back in, and stitch the hole back up. Can usually do this 3 or 4 times per toy, and get maybe a month out of each one.

My dog goes through toys like you wouldn't believe. If you get him a stuffed toy you go back to see him like 5 minutes later and hes taken its head off and is pulling the stuffing out. On the plus side he always puts the stuffing in a nice neat pile its kinda cute to watch lol

i can sew pretty well, but there's just no point, doing it brilliantly compared to doing a hack job makes no difference to the dogs, so i just don;t bother
she still gets into them all the same

If you have seen as many mauled dogs as i have then you would not regard it as an over reaction. The OP is training there dogs to attack others, maybe not deliberately, but that is what they are doing.

Why not have a toy banana? That way if the OP dogs attacks some fruit at least there is possibility of a fruit salad for desert.

I will tell you why! It is because they want there dog to be big and hard, and able to defend itself against other dogs and not fruit and veg. Unfortunately the results of this thinking are clear for all to see!

dog attack

The cycle must end NOW!

Er-r-r-rm
Hang an a mo
The OP makes no mention of what the stuffed toys are.
They may very well be stuffed bananas for all we know.

If you had seen the OP's dog, you would realise how daft that statement looks.

Its a toy to play with with. The chances of him coming across a real life walking 8" plastic black pig that makes an oinking sound(well actually it sounds more like a burp) are pretty slim. Still, I would like to think he is intelligent enough to differentiate between a toy and something that is alive.

I am certainly not training him to attack anything.

Carlos-dfc ~ lol! Alfie the killer Shitzu!! Now that would really make me look hard wouldn't it - haha

This thread has made me laugh -- btw not bored any more

Our younger dog destroys toys out of habit, we now go to charity shops for our cuddly toys, a lot cheaper and we have found that toys made for kids last a lot longer than dog toys.

Our pup has had most of her stuffed toys for 4-5 months now and hasn't harmed any of them. We are on the second 'Mouse' (those vibrating ones) but that was due to me standing on Mouse the first... pup looked awful glum when pulling the string didn't do anything any more!

My Shihs fave toy is a sausages on a rope tug toy which they play tug of war with. My Patterdale has annihilated several of them though!

are westie has had a few stuffed animals in her first year of life, but she still has the dog toy that she got on the first day we got her. She uses it as a pillow in her crate at night.

A "Wubba"by Kong(that's the brandname) is indestructable.
Our dogs both have one, they've had them for almost two years now and they play pretty rough!
