I don't know why people dislike Fifi so much but she has a point about Alesha, she also has a point about Darcy but she shouldn't disregard her so rudely. Darcy is ballet so does not fit but she knows about the technicalities of dance so will be ten times more suited than Alesha.

She's a talentless rent-a-gob who slept with the boss.

Good for Fiona Phillips! The BBC have behaved stupidly in sacking a knowledgeable judge and replacing her with an ignoramus.

Oh really?

I don't watch GMTV so only know her from occasional TV appearances so am probably uninformed.

I'm not Fiona's biggest fan, but what she has said is spot on. And if she has an opinion, as we all do, she has a right to say it.

Personally speaking, Alesha is not qualified to judge, and I think it's a shame because she loves the show very much, but ultimately I think her experience of Strictly might be soured. Especially when the pro dancers off camera are bound to be livid at being judged by someone who learned to follow a routine for 16 or so weeks. Whether it works on-screen is another matter but I'm sure the knives will be out for Alesha behind the scenes.

Not the best decision from the BBC. But I guess controversy is good for the ratings.

i have nothing against alesha but there was nothing wrong with arlene and she knows what she's talking about. if arlene wanted to go or if there is a proper reason other than her being old(because look at bruce) then i'd be happy with her judging. the bbc made a bad desicion because alesha has danced for 16 weeks and arlene had years of expierience. i'd be a bit upset if i was arlene so i feel really sorry for her. i'm glad she's got another job though good for her.

She married him before he was her boss.

You make your point perfectly.

I studied years for my profession,. First uni then professional exams and then more time working my way up the ladder. All in all it took a bloody long time. If someone without my qualifications and a mere 16 weeks experience came along to judge my performance - you can be pretty sure that my response would be more than a little indelicate.

Just to point out the bleedin' obvious........

ONLY LEN is qualified to judge ballroom dancing on any level.

Arlene, Craig and Bruno are all ex show hoofers and choreographers with no ballroom qualifications to their names (apart from possibly Craig who says in his autobiography that he has done some ballroom lessons but doesn't mention ever doing any exams.....)

Replacing one person with no ballroom qualifications with another is no real cause for concern for me.... and at least Alesha will be looking at the contestants with an appreciation of the hard work they have put in to deliver their performance each week, rather than looking for petty picky points with Arlene's awful alliterations.

My only worry is that without the acid (tongued) queen sitting next to him - Craig will be even narstier (sic) than he has been up til now as he is the only one who will be horrible.

Now she is popping up everywhere. With respect has her father died or something?”

I'm only repeating what she said in an interview in Best magazine. DS also reported it here

I wish you'd start a new thread with this post.

Arlene was a dancer and choreograped musicals etc for a long time. She was more than qualified. Alesha is not qualified in the slighest. If she takes the job then she deserves whatever bad publicity she gets.

There was a difference though. Cheryl only replaced Sharon, because Sharon quit.

Arlene is leaving because she was axed in favour of a younger person, which is unfair and ageist

Yes Arlene has been a stage dancer and choreographer for many years.

Her technical knowledge and personal experience of BALLROOM dancing is only as good as any one of the faithful viewers of SCD, and probably a lot less than any viewer who has actually taken any ballroom lessons.

From that point - Alesha who HAS learnt to ballroom dance, being taught by a former world champion, and who has actually WON this competition, is actually far more qualified to judge than Arlene, Craig or Bruno.

Sorry didn't mean to offend but she did mention her family and her father when she announced she was leaving.
Circumstances have obviously changed since.

I wasn't offended - I just remember reading the DS article. I knew Fiona had left GMTV, but not why (or couldn't remember).

“If anyone should have gone it was the old bleating goat Len who just disagreed with the other judges to make him look good. Plus he was biased towards sportsmen and somewhat homophobic idiot. I haven't forgiven him for saying Colin was "airy-fairy".”

He said the same thing to Joey Fatone of N'Sync. It was nothing to do with Colin's sexuality but about the way he lead the dance.

Is that even possible. Craig should have been the one to go. If you're going to give out the jibes the way he does you should be able to take it and he can't. The only entertainment he's ever provided is on ITT when John Sargeant ripped through him like a hot knife through butter.

Totally agree. THAT sums the situation up perfectly

I maintain, and will continue to do so, that it was an ageist, sexist decision. Disgusting in this day and age

I want equality! If we're losing Arlene because the powers that be think she's too old and wrinkly, I DEMAND that Gethin Jones (or someone else equally as gorgeous!) replace the even older and wrinklier Bruce with immediate effect

Now THAT I'll really go for.

You wouldn't read a word out of me on here saying how disgraceful Bruce got booted out.
