When I make boiled egg butties (to take to work for lunch), I put brown sauce on them.

By the time I come to eat them, the yolks have melted from the sauce, and are delicious.

Freshly ground black pepper, cos lettuce and mayo for me. The addition of cheese n onion crisps takes it to another level.

Are the boiled eggs hot? How does the sauce melt the yolk? (Sounds like an idea for lunch I might try).

But sometimes thinly sliced tomatoes as well.

The best thing to put on boiled egg butties - if they're hot - is bacon.
For cold ones like yours, a slice of ham is pretty good.

No.

I don't know. I think it might be something to do with the vinegar in the sauce.

The yolk doesn't melt instantly, It takes a while, but it's worth the wait.

I like to spread some Russian Salad on the eggs. Very tasty!

What also works for me is to have the eggs still warm on a soft roll/bun with a generous spread of butter and just some salt sprinkled on. The eggs melt the butter and that's super yummie!

Plain and simple salt.
Have to agree with you there.

Real butter, slice the egg onto the bread when it's still warm, sprinkle of salt.

Heaven on bread.

If you sprinkle some sand on it takes you back to those days on the beach when you were young

I'm Swedish and we have something called kaviar, which is smoked cod roe in a tube and divine on boiled egg sandwiches! Sounds iffy I know, but it's lovely.

Other than that, mayonnaise, a bit of smoked salt and dill is nice.
