Err..

As is often the case, the BBC are only concerned with ratings so are desperate to beat X-Factor every year.
As if those who watch either programme give two monkey's which programme has the most viewers as the formats are entirely different and appeal to different people. The BBC consider providing a family entertainment programme for early-evening Saturdays, is secondary.
We've already had the nonsense over the years where the number of programmes has been over-extended by the addition of more and more competitors, so many that for the first couple of weeks they have to split up the sexes. This is the BBC's ham-fisted attempt to go "like for like" with X-Factor.
Including Alesha Dixon won't drag viewers away from the X-Factor, in fact, it might make some SCD viewers watch an entirely different programme.
Arlene provided some good entertainment. Most people aren't bothered about her expertise, they like to witness the rows between the judges, just as X-Factor viewers like to laugh at some of the acts which are rubbish.
No blame can be put on Alesha, it's just another job. She won't add anything to the format. I can't see the point of including Darcy Bussell either. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
But then I can't see the point of the BBC, run by 400 "suits" on over £100K a year trying to justify their existence, yet the standard of programmes gets steadily worse.. and they still want more money.
