Freesat HD+ from single LNB setup
Hi all.
I curently have a standerd Sky SD box feed by a single LNB. I am looking at adding Freesat to the setup. 1. Is this possiable ? 2. Will I need a 2nd LNB and cable into the room to watch different channels on both boxes ? e.g. BBC News on the the Freesat box and Sky 1 on the Skybox ? 3. Is it possible to have a Freesat + box on the same setup, instead of the basic Freesat box ? Thank you. |

If you want to use your existing dish, choose one that fits it.

£20 will convert a single to a quad LNB if you go the ebay route, its well worth it if you are getting a PVR.
If you are not getting a PVR, you might as well keep the sky box and single LNB. |

Thanks. And what make / model should I go for with regards to the Freesat box ?
Cheers. I got one for my neighbour for £4.95. Just be careful not to move the dish when you fit it. The main problem is running in all the cables

The cables will be ok, I hope, as we have York stone that is very very hard and big, but we have local handyman to fit all this.
Thanks. |

Sky+ still works on a single LNB. You can watch, pause, record t.v etc. The only thing you can't do is watch one program while you record another. That's what the 2nd cable is for.
As for the 'do I buy a 2nd LNB question' I am sure it was just a typo, but to clarify... you can't get a 2nd LNB for your dish, but you can get a single LNB, a double LNB or a quad LNB... and they are very, very easy to replace unless they are up high, and even then, it's the hight that's the challenge, and not the actual replacing of the LNB. I think double LNB's are a waste of money. You are as well to get a quad. As someone else pointed out... you can get them very cheap on Ebay. As far as I know... the model doesn't matter much if at all, but maybe someone else here knows better than I on that matter. |

Have a look on ebay. You'll get one for under a tenner inc post. They're all much of a muchness - and the two I've bought had several fitting types.
