Thinking Of Moving To Freesat + Advice Please
Currently had Sky + in for just under a year. So looking at my options. Whilst im more than happy with Sky + im looking at reducing costs long term.
I have one quick question, can I just plug the Freesat + box into my exsisting satelitte feeds ? Or do I need someone to come and install it ? Thanks Matty |

Similar question so pointless opening another thread.
With the onset of digital tv later this year, although we have Sky and able to get Freeview, however our second set downstairs currently operates on an indoor aerial and unable to get Freeview on it. Our Freeview reception is quite good as other tv's upstairs can receive Freeview via an indoor aerial. We are considering Freesat and a mailshot giving help to switchover says that they will give advice on how to install etc. Is it a simple matter of updating the LNB and wiring it round from our orginial Sky dish or do we require a second dish? Suppose we will also need an outdoor aerial for it too in order to be able to use the Freeview built into the tv set. Another option is to get Sky multiroom ...... have heard that you can subscribe for a year and get all the packages that are on the main set (Sky sports etc), however after that year you can keep the box, cancel the multiroom sub and can continue to use it but only having the regular channels on it. Am I right? Apologies that I have mention Sky on a Freesat forum.

If you only have a single lnb then all that's needed is to replace it with a quad. If you can get at the dish it's a 5 min job, wiring the extra cable(s) will obvously take a little longer depending where the dish is in relation to the freesat box.
Thanks for your reply. |

When you say 'quad', does that mean you can wire up to 4 devices (Sky/Freesat) up to it?
Thanks for your reply. If each box, say Sky+ & Freesat+, have 2 tuners each, you can only install 2 devices on it. Or, 1 Freesat+ & 1 Sky, & 1 Freesat - you get the picture. ![]() Rgds. Les. |

Thanks Les for the info. I learn something every day, I'll be shinning up to that dish and doing it myself at this rate.

I've no idea how this is enforced in existing customers though. Would they come and take the Sky+ box away from you if you didn't pay the £10/month?

I found out later (to late for me) that if you disconnect the box for a month or so you miss the update that deactivates the recorder so it will work, but no idea how long for. |

Yes they do. I had the recorder deactivated on my Sky HD + box and had a letter from Sky asking if I would like to have it reinstated for a £10 a month. Jokers.

I'm sure people have mentioned 3 months as the time to keep it unplugged to miss the kill signal.
