The recent Digital Spy article notes that she is the first American artist to have 3 #1 singles from a debut album on the Billboard chart.

My question is didn't Mariah Carey have 4 consecutive #1s in America from her self-titled debut album? So how is this true?

GaGa's record is for the airplay chart I believe, whereas Mariah's was the Hot 100 chart.

Ah I see, thanks for answering. These Americans and their charts, it's confusing!

I must say there is a ludicrous amount of charts in the US.

Surely the Hot 100 is the only chart that really matters? Airplay chart? Who gives a stuff. When i was in Florida last year we had to stop listening to the radio as every single bloody time we turned it on it was either Don't Stop the Music by Rihanna or Leona Lewis 'Bleeding love'. They hammer songs to death there!

Totally agree. They are a total waste of time. In 20 years time noone will give a toss how many times a dj played a record because he liked it. It is how many are sold. End of.

Pretty much every artist actually considering the Hot 100 is made up of 50% sales and 50% airplay. Without airplay, songs won't be heard and there will be low sales too.

Yes i am aware of that but who really cares about that one single chart. The Hot 100 is the only one that matters in my eyes. When someone has a number one single in America it's that chart that they're talking about.

I'm so glad we don't have airplay making up 50% of the chart here. Songs would be Number 1 for months on end. Absolutely ridiculus.
