BT Vision not installd this week
A few weeks ago we got several calls from Mumbai Telecom. I was never in so my wife told the gent when to call. To his credit he called when supposed to and proceeded to try and sell me BT Vision. After hearing him I asked him to call after the weekend so I could talk it over with my wife.
We decided to go for it and when he called back I agreed to the package. After we went through the details he told me the equipment would arrive today, 14th July. So I rushed home today all excited to find - nil, nothing, sod all. No Vision box ![]() I phoned the customer helpline to be told that there was no trace of an order I was passed over to a sales person who tried to sell me the service again By this time I was so hacked off I said no.Interestingly, I had the same experience when migrating back to BT from (spit) Talk Talk. Order taken, then nothing. When I called back - no trace of my order And in three months I've only had my first BT Broadband bill - but a phone bill monthly. I don't think they know what customers they have.......... |

unpack the box, plug in Ariel Coax, HDMI(or scart), network, Optical Audio (optional if you have dolby) and power then power on the unit it'll do the rest and then ask you to scan channels. once thats done, you'll be sent to the first channel (bbc 1) then everything is up. go press TV guide or On Demand to browse contant. Don't be put off by the others scaremongering you, remember they want you to subscribe to sky for some bizzare reason. anyways let us on DS know how you get on. i'll gibe you any help I can with it. |

My BTV worked first time.
2 Relatives of mine also found it worked first time. 1 is a person who is normally technically challenged, the other a pensioner. add 3 to the list. |

When I got my BT vision, I received a remote control and a box of powerline adaptors, No receiver or instructions etc, took another week to get the receiver, and 5 phone calls to get my Setanta card

Admitttedly when I had vision, I had little trouble with it, except for intermittant errors trying to watch certain episodes of VOD programmes. Sometimes they cleared up if I tried again, other times I had to try again in a few days, and some just never played (was almost a year ago now so cant remember what series/episodes they were).
There were also intremittant lock-ups where a soft reboot was needed to be able to change channel. You also had to keep any eye on the system memory, otherwise browsing menus or EPG became very slow - again a soft reboot was needed to free up memory. My box was engineer installed (no self install at time) so worked straight away. It was hard wired to the hub, with a wireless connection from hub to PC, so no powerline adapters either. Major problem had was with BT vision billing, and is well documented elsewhere on this forum, if you do a search. BT Broadband and phone billing was fine, but Vision was a nightmare. Another major issue, and which ultimately led me to move elsewhere for my TV phone and BB was cost, or more the cost of BT Broadband which is needed for Vision. UI was clunky and as mentioned can take quite few key presses and much searching of menus to find some of the content, but I got used to it at the time. Hope some find this post helpful, and a certain other finds it 'constructive' and not in any way trying to cause trouble.

Friend had problems with the powerline adapters, but once we connected the box to the hub via Ethernet it was ok, for a few weeks and then it went belly up. Box was replaced, it is now okish.

The fact that Mumbai Telecom called about BT Vision should have sounded an alarm.

I failed to spot that too.
I'd suggest getting onto your bank, you could be done. this is known as phishing. i did my install myself and when I ordered I spoke to a young woman in the UK. she was very friendly. was on the phone for like 2 nearly 3 hours. we were ordering the package but kept getting sidetracked with conversations about life, fashion and food. needless to say it all arrived as expected, waivered install fee of £30, and all new equipment and lines. which is why it works for me. since then I upped from option 1 to option 3, and i got a free hubphone 2.1 as well. |

I spotted it but I didnt find it funny. Plus there's no such place as Bombay in India anymore so not very clever either.
