I was wondering if she might want to do it to try and make herself more popular. Can you imagine both Katie and Sharon Osbourne on the same series?!

Who picks the pairs for the show?
Is it the producers?”

Yes. They have to be right on height basis- the man can't be shorter than the woman, and I think they also look for potential "stories", likeable partnerships and car crashes!

So Brendan often gets headstrong women because he has a reputation for having a short fuse so there's likely to be tension. Single pros are often paired up with single celebs, just in case a showmance might develop (or at least enough chemistry that the BBC can imply something is going on). Anton tends to get the older lady so he can flatter them with his English gentleman routine.

There is also location- where the celebs want to train and whether the pros can get there (I think- or maybe the BBC just decide and the pros get stuck with going abroad or across the country if necessary).

Someone pulling your chain folks.

Paul O Grady has a heart problem, the bbc wouldnt be able to afford his insurance cover!

The BBC wouldnt allow anyone to leak the line up in advance, they would be sacking anyone who did.

We know that's probably not the final lineup but it's entirely possible that some of those people will be contestants this year. For example, the Sharon Osbourne rumour keeps coming back to haunt us and I'm sure she'd love to be on the programme that's the chief rival to X-Factor. Besides, there's no harm in speculating: it's fun

The rumours are the only thing to get us Strictly addicts through the summer - otherwise we might have to get a life

Anyone think Andrew Flintoff might turn up on SCD now that he's announced his retirement from cricket?

Halliwell will also get Bruno and Craig fawning all over her while the public vote against her (in other words, Emma Bunton). Shepherd has (I think?) previous dance experience - just wait for the threads to start springing up.

Overall, unimaginative and predictable. It actually looks like a parody of previous line-ups.

Must try harder!”

I think from posts last year when Ben Shepherd was rumoured that he has a degree in modern dance, possibly - definitely something dance related anyway...

I am sure that he and Kate Garraway were discussing it recently on GMTV (a few weeks ago) and his degree in dance was mentioned and that meant he wouldn't be able to compete, but then I could be wrong.

I'm concerned that this rumour keeps rearing its ugly head I used to like but now dislike Sharon. The only thing that keeps me thinking she's not doing it is that things can't be too fraught between her and Simon Cowell as he has her judging American Idol....

But isn't Simon Cowell the 'brains' behind it and his production company hires the people involved? I think.
