I have seen a lot of references to it being because of her age and I think that is far too simplistic. It is too easy to blame her age when there could have been loads of other reasons her contract was not renewed.

Not in my house she wasn't! That honour went for the second year running to Bruno 'My girls' Tonioli
Poor Bruno. He got a lot of flack for that misjudged comment when Craig was far more biased (in his scores) towards the women in general and Lisa in particular than any of the other judges. I do think Bruno's comments run to the excessively pro-female and anti-male, but his scores are usually reasonably fair (probably because he starts from the base of copying Len's generally pro-male scores and tilts them pro-fem slightly).

I always find it slightly mystifying that Craig escapes so much criticism when he's always been the most biased judge after Len and he talks a lot of crap about technicalities that are usually debunked on here by someone here with actual experience of ballroom dancing within 5 seconds of him saying it. After 6 series he still doesn't seem to know the difference between a heel lead and a toe lead.

Maybe people confuse negativity with honesty and wisdom. It wouldn't be the first time.

His '10' for B+K's illegal lift in SCD5 didn't help much either, Monkseal Strangely enough it was Arlene who chided Bruno with a comment that went something like 'We're supposed to be here to gve the show credibility'.

...Quite!

Yes, I think Craig gets away with a lot too. My dancing friends all laugh like drains at his supposedly informed criticism and occasionally resort to pause/play slowmo on my recorder to try and explain precisely why he is a total plonker. The technicalities pass me by but I am persuaded by the general thrust of the argument.

It's inverted snobbery.
Bernard Madoff played them like a violin for 30 years....

Yeah, that was a bad one, and of course in the end it did Kelly & Brendan far more harm than good. I do find Bruno's anarchic spirit fun but occasionally he takes it too far.

Although if we're talking about turning a blind eye to illegal lifts then last year they were all guilty. John had one and I'm fairly sure Andrew did too. Neither was mentioned, neither was penalised.

I agree with a lot of what you say about Craig here. He manages to give the impression that he's knowledgable when, as you point out, his judgement on the technicalities is rather suspect.

However as far as bias is concerned I think that he and Bruno are equally culpable.

I agree.
I think the other three are lucky to be coming back this year after the debacle last year.
Despite being an avid fan of Strictly and a dancer I didn't enjoy last year for some reason - there seemed to be some underlying feeling and I couldn't put my finger on what it
was.
I think the BBC knew they had to be seen to be doing something. Whether what they have done is right or wrong
remains to be seen.
Good luck to Alesha I hope she does well but I think they
but I think they should have put a professional dancer rather than a celebrity.
