Why is the amount of HD movies BT make available on demand SO pathetic ?

Probably a combination of lack of demand and not fully supporting the platform. They probably dont like having to explain that they offer VoD movies and downloaded HD movies

Well the demand may not be there, but that will partly be because the choice isn't.
On numerous occasions now, I have sat down on a Friday evening and suggested to the wife that we buy an HD movie on BTV. Every time, we looked at the offerings and couldn't see anything out of the handful of movies that we wanted to pay a premium to see. The last time I went on, it wasn't even simply to find the HD films as they seemed to all be lumped with the SD output and requires lots of key presses to search. So since, we simply haven't bothered looking. I do like BTV - I think it upscales SD TV well, and the interface is generally pretty good. But the killer app for them has always been VoD, and whilst there is a lot of stuff on their service the world is changing and now with bluray players < £200 and FreeSat providing free-to-air HD channels, the only way BTV wll remain desirable is via some form of HD content, preferably via streaming. I am seriously considering getting FreeSat for day-to-day TV, and only use the BTV for VoD/TV-Replay stuff, although if everyone did that I could see BTV falling by the wayside. Which would be stupid for them |

Agreed, HD films have been dire lately.
but tthen again I think it might have something to do with the new sony films deal. when something arrive on BT it has to run a cycle of so many months. so rather than renew the cycle of some current films I think theyre letting it drop off so they can fill it with HD films from Sony. kinda makes sense. I reckon we'll get our usual load back when sony starts offering some films. The quality of the films in HD ae very good. supply it with a dolby amp and you are looking at something similar to a profile 1.0 bluray player. now that aintt bad for BT. I just wish they got BBC Replay in HD now that would be killer. only freeview service to offer BBC HD then. |
