Best Female singing voice
Hey,
As a companion to Hayley's thread - who are the best female singing voices? IMO Judith Durham had one of the best female voices I've ever heard She had a beautiful clear, operatic voice but could sing different styles. She really wanted to be a jazz/blues singer.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC0boZ0y24o ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXrmQ5IMkFA ![]() Also: Eva Cassidy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3YVil3Ajjs ![]() Francoise Hardy Maria Callas |

I would say K.D. Lang. Her voice simply glides through songs. One of a few singers who actually sounds even better live than she does on cd. Her voice is simply magical http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3pyVEOw3lQ
Gives me chillsOther mentions.. Sarah Dawn Finer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npjy_...e=channel_page (infact I think Sarah Dawn Finer has my favourite voice ever!) Alison Moyet Barbra Streisand Beverley Knight Patricia Kaas Natasha Khan of Bat For Lashes Whitney Houston (in her prime) Amy Winehouse Bonnie Tyler Anastacia Sarah Vaughn |

For me it has to be Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin:
Of course here are the now obligatory Youtube clips: Aretha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHKWB...eature=related Ella: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1j6avX7ebkM An honourable mention goes to Elkie Brooks. Here is a rare clip of her singing with Vinegar Joe. If you look closely you will see a young Robert Palmer on guitar on the right: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPED5-u_i88 |
