Humax Foxsat Hdr Issues!!!!
Here are some issues I would like to address regarding the FOXSAT HDR, I look forward to any advise and if I am incorrect in anything I have mentioned below advise is always appreciated.
Swapping between Freesat and None Freesat always defaults to the first channel in the list which is really annoying say if you are on channel Five and you go to none Freesat then when you go back to Freesat the receiver has changed the channel to BBC1, and there should be an easier way to swap between the modes like a simple press of a button instead of having to enter the menu each time which is boring. Can’t swap channels around in Freesat mode. Can't swap between Freesat and none Freesat whilst recording. When a scheduled recording is about to start and another channel is being watched it is changed to the channel that is being recorded unless the popup box on the screen request is selected to don’t change channel and I do have two feed's to the receiver. Boot Up time is slow. EPG very sluggish (compared to my Topfield TF5800's) Message informing of new channels after starting up pops up far too often and without intervention the receiver starts to search for new channels and on most occasions finds nothing new, there should be an option to disable the function. I purchased my receiver earlier this year and to this day I have never encountered any lock-ups the receiver has been totaly reliable but after using Topfield 5800's (I still have two of them) for nearly four years I find the above issues with the Humax really irritating, does anyone know if and when there will be a firmware update and if so can anyone indicate what problems are likely to be addressed. |

Yes it is green using less than a watt in standby compared to sky boxes that eat 20 watts plus.
BTW if you add the 20 watts plus times 10,000,000 boxes that is 200 Megawatts being used all the time by Sky boxes. If they had a low power standby mode that figure would only have been 10 Megawatts. Well done Sky for being so green NOT! Automan. |

is the sky standby usage higher, because it maintains the status of the LNB even when in standby?

I suspect their boxes not complying with forthcoming EU energy regulations is why they have been trying to shift so many before it becomes illegal to sell such an energy inefficient product. Automan. |

Try this test :- Go to 951 BBC 1 CI and start an instant recording, go to 108 BBC HD and start another instant recording. Now tune in to any other channel and press pause. If you can pause a 3rd channel your stb is working correctly, if not you need to do a factory reset. (You can record two channels at the same time using just one tuner if they are one the same transponder, so if a "friendly" combination of channels is used it is not a true test). BTW, the diagnostics appears to show the state of 2 tuners, but in reality it is only repeating the state of the 1st tuner - a known bug. Rgds. Les. |
