But indeed Doctor Who was turned into a kids' show. There was an announcement quite recently.
I think it was some time in 1962 or in 1963.

BBC America is a well watched channel for those of us over here who get it - you can only get it if you pay for cable or satalite. (nothing like freeview over here) same with Sci-Fi.

I do not think it much matters who well it does else where - as we never get them as soon as y'all do. Thankfully - right after I moved back here to the USA - they worked real hard to get Torchwood as soon as they could and we at least got the 5 part mini series in the same month as it was shown there. (Day 5 shows tomorrow)

I just hope they give us another series as this one is amazing!

I don't think it matters that much either however, apparently the first episode of TW got the highest viewing figures in the channels history:

1.4 million might not sound like a lot, but for a cable channel it's pretty impressive stuff! I'd say TW is a fairly strong niche programme in the US, and possibley now something of a flag ship programme for BBC America.

No idea on the viewing figures for the later episodes yet, but no reason to think they won't hold up like they did in the UK.
