Off Topic: This forum and Google Chrome Browser
Apologies for the off topic post (I can't find another forum on Digital Spy for this type of post).
Is anyone using Google Chrome, and finding that the adverts on the forum are appearing right over the top of people's posts? It's most annoying, as the first couple of posts on each page can't be read. I've been a long time Firefox user, but have since discovered Google Chrome and have never looked back. I've had no issues with the browser whatsoever, other than with this one forum. |

Create a bookmark with this code, and then just click the bookmark when it happens, the ads will vanish.
Code:
javascript:(function(){function R(w){try{var d=w.document,j,i,t,T,N,b,r=1,C;for(j=0;t=["object","embed","applet","iframe"][j];++j){T=d.getElementsByTagName(t);for(i=T.length-1;(i+1)&&(N=T[i]);--i)if(j!=3||!R((C=N.contentWindow)?C:N.contentDocument.defaultView)){b=d.createElement("div");b.style.width=N.width; b.style.height=N.height;b.innerHTML="<del>"+(j==3?"third-party "+t:t)+"</del>";N.parentNode.replaceChild(b,N);}}}catch(E){r=0}return r}R(self);var i,x;for(i=0;x=frames[i];++i)R(x)})()

Or just log in, this clears the ads too. Although, it isa bit of a pain. I thought it was something that DS had done and that it affected all browsers.

I didn't want to block ads, after all they are what keep sites like DS running. This script however offers a brilliant solution, as the ads still get displayed, but can be easily removed if they cause a problem. |

I'm glad you like the Google browser and Google Chrome does appeal but I wouldn't want to give up Firefox. I have various plugins installed and find it a great browser - I'm interested in why you gave it up?
I normally avoid like the plague, any applications that don't use the native Window borders and buttons, but Google Chrome is my one exception to this rule. For me, firefox was at it's best in the early days (I have been a avid user since the day Pheonix 0.1 was released). Chrome now, reminds me of how Firefox used to be. Lightning fast loading time, and instantly responds to clicks. I've noticed over the years that newer versions of Firefox just seem to get slower in terms of UI response. Quote:

I had probably no more than one or two plugins on firefox, but Chrome is just so much more responsive. I love the way you can rip a tab out into another browser window (or vice-versa).
I find it is as fast as Chrome (for most sites anyway), and you can do the same "rip a tab out". and I can keep all my plugins (noscript, flashblock, forecastfox, etc) |
