I'm so hopeing everything is leading to a return to Gallifrey -that would be brilliant .

It could possibly be that the person which picked up the Master ring is one of these people......acting subconsusly and ready to be 'activated'

Watched RotC/AoS the other day and picked up on a comment made by ten that when the time lords were around you could hop between parallel universes and be back safe in time for tea. If they come back, then this means a certain person could come back from a parallel universe. Would Moffat really do that...?

Moffat has always said that the introduction of Gallifrey and the Time Lords was the worst mistake the original series ever made as it robbed the Doctor of his mystery.

Hence explaining John Simm's reappearance on set. Good theory.

I thought RTD was penning the last of the two specials so it wouldn't have anything to do with Moffat..especially if the stories did bring back the Time Lords just for those episodes and thus ends the continuing arc of the time war.

As I am not privy to the storyline it is just a guess but when it was mentioned about these nightmare/fantasy scenes it did make me think of The Matrix and somehow the respository that contains all the living memories/lives of the Time Lords has somehow survived the Time War.

Yep, just because the Time Lords and Gallifrey could be reintroduced, doesn't mean we have to see them all the time!

Whatever happens.....whether the TL and Gallifrey are back for good, or only the specials.....one thing is for sure, that however it ends, it will end in the way Moff wants to start with.....I doubt RTD is going to bring in the Time Lords, and decide to keep then or get rid of them without knowing what Moff will like too....

Most people start to open the Fob watch and a massive amount of energy bursts out of the watches into the Humans.

it would give Moffat the blank canvas/clean slate to start his era off with. it doesn't have to be a definitive conclusion to what RTD has established as I am sure there must have been discussions between the two about the finale.

there have been several occasions already when we had thought the Daleks, Cybermen, even Rose were given the boot, only for them to return.

I think a similar storyline was used in an Eighth Doctor book. The Doctor absorbs the memories of all the Time Lords, and restores it later. The Time War sort of mirrored this later.

Also depending on whether RTD is putting them in for himself only, and then plans to get rid of them somehow for series if say Moff doesn't want them around right now but may do in the future....RTD will most likely get rid of them in a way that leaves an open road for a return....I mean for Rose for example even though she was stuck in a parallel world sealed forever....that parallel world had weakend for her to be trapped there in the first place....so a return at some point was likely....same wit the Daleks...although in the Second series the Daleks were different to the ones that Rose destroyed in the future....and then cult itself had disappered, so again leaving an open road for them....Cybermen were trapped...again if the parallel worlds were weakend in series 4, then their return wasn't impossible...although it did give RTD a chance to bring back the real Cybermen at anypoint they want, instead of the Lumic creation....but no to be.....

So the Time Lords may not be here for good if Moff doesn't want them yet, but in sci-fi anything is possible, so they could easily come back at anypoint again.....

Yes I read that.....I was trying to think while reading it that this story probably took place after the Time War....but bits and bobs of it wouldn't fit the mythology created by RTD of the Time War.....

after four series and a new Doctor on the horizon maybe RTD wants to close the chapter of the Time War? The Daleks, The Master and Davros returned after events of the war so perhaps the Time Lords could, even if it is only for this one story.

Does make sense....it was his arc after all....so maybe he does want to close the chapter...I think he more or less laid the foundations of the TL coming back...even if for a bit, when Dalek Caan went and got Davros out of the Time War period....

perhaps the Christmas specials could be RTD's version of A Christmas Carol...past, present and the future...all playing a part.

Oh yeah!!!!!! Of course...well that will explain one scene at least.....and the presence of a particular person in some of the shootings that we have seen...

But if the Time lords are killed by russel, then brought back by steven wed complain, and if they are brought back for good, well complain, and brought back in the 1st series 5 ep, well complain, so hurry up and make ur minds up with ur theorys.

I have never believed that one at all personally -the bbc would never give away such scenes and leak major plot without context for all to see imo-hope not anyway.I'm far from convinced it will be a farewell tour scenario ..

the context I am speaking of is not so much a farewell tour, more reminders of his past and where he is now and what the future holds...as I said a bit like Dickens A Christmas Carol...it is about choices and the repercussions
