Quote:
“The new series of The Apprentice is to be pushed back by several months because the BBC do not want the new Lord Sugar to be on TV during the General Election, it has emerged. The Apprentice usually starts in March, but now it’s not expected until late May at the earliest.

The BBC are worried that they will be accused of bias to the Labour Party with one insider saying: “Executives must give due consideration to the implications of showing the programmes in the months immediately before an election.”

A insider for the company behind the show said, “This has thrown a real spanner on the works. If the election is in June, we may have to wait until the summer – and no one watches telly in the summer.””

I think the claim that no-one watches telly in the summer is a self-fulfilling prophecy. They think no-one will watch so they only put on crap so nobody does watch.

People will watch in the summer if it's worth watching; look at Torchwood.

It'll clash with the World Cup instead?

I don't know how late the fixtures will be over there but we are only 1 or 2 hours behind them in South Africa so football will still more likely clash.

If they are going to push this back would it not be better placed within the autumn 2010 season?

Apprentice will start at 9pm and will only be on 1 day a week - won't be hard to avoid England matches if they need to.

That won't matter to me if Jordan or whatever her name is goes in, this will be another reality series that I used to love, that I will no longer be able to watch! Why do they keep giving her air time.

It could still be hung after a second election.......

They presumably as per normal have 2 final candidates who have been working for SAS for 6 months ending when the series should have ended and who will already be on extra time served........

The show has not political bias, so what does it matter!

Its all to do with Sugar working with the government can be seen as giving an unfair advantage to them if he is on tv every week

So why do the BBC allow politicians with a political alliance to do interviews on their news station?

I guess the give all parties the same amount of time to keep it fair where as this would all be for 1 of them

But The Apprentice isn't a politics based programme, so surely it shouldn't matter?

Fair enough if Sir Alan was promoting Labour's policies, but he isn't...

But Labour promoted Sir Alan to the House of Lords, he was appointed their enterprise tsar:

He's just given Labour 400k. He's also one for promoting his 'investments' and name dropping.
