Can either the Humax or the Panasonic boxes be used to record radio programmes? I consider Freesat's radio EPG to be a big advantage over Sky.
Thanks

The Humax can. But, I think, not all channels support Series Link.

Oh, that's good, quite a short list

I've only ever recorded a single instance Radio2 prog, and it got it perfectly.

Thanks GC.

Thanks for the replies. For anyone who loves radio, and lives in a rural (or poor reception) area, I think this is a massive selling point for Freesat.

another big bonus I find is the recordings can be transfered to a USB device and re-encoded to MP3 format and then played on a portable device whilst partaking in other activities.

I use my freesat to record radio, it's great for archiving live gigs & music documentaries, it's a shame the BBC don't series link programs.

but you may find a lot of radio progs (BBC) are on podcast - if you have a PC, you can set them to be automatically downloaded as RSS feeds

eg I have 2 years history of Radio 1 Chart Show, The Archers, Fighting Talking etc

I just demux the audio to an mp2 file (using tsMuxer), which is much quicker, and no quality loss
MP2 files play without re-encoding on my in-car mp3 player, and on my portable, and my bedroom mini-system.
Some players do require them to be renamed to mp3 to work.

True. But not all BBC radio programmes are available as a podcast. Desert Island Disks for example.

Thank you for the tip about tsMuxer which works fine.

What I would like now is some way to do a bit of trimming on the resultant files.

I tried some of the programs that I found with Google but they didn't want to recognise the tsMuxer output files.

All help greatly appreciated

You could try Audacity tho you'll need the mp3 codecs.
