Hello everyone.

I am writing to see if anybody else is having about as much luck as me with the HDR.

I purchased my first one in January and it developed a series of faults, there are too many to list but they are in other threads. e.g box switching itself on without any schedule or input etc.

I contacted my retailer and they sent me out a replacement without any problem whatsoever and apologised on behalf of Humax! WELL DONE ARGOS!!! Sad that they have to apologise on behalf of their supplier but hey ho.

Anyway the new box has been in situ 4 weeks but has started to play up. Box has locked up on several occassions, solved just as before and like everybody has done on here. Resets, power cycles etc.

Only now the box has no timers set in it, no software or channel line-up updates yet it is switching itself on from Full standby (power save) into what I would call a "half-standby". This is to say that the red light is on the front, time displayed but unlike when it is recording it almost instantaneously boots up this time it takes even longer than when it is first switched out of pwer save mode.

I have reset all settings, fiddled around with it and still no luck.

Any ideas apart from throwing it out the window!!

It is clearly not of satisfactory quality therefore take it back to the retailer for a repair or refund.

Probably an incompatibility problem between you and the HDR - I'd return it and buy something else

Definitely sounds as if you have another faulty box.

Getting two duff units in a row is unusual but not incredibly so.

If, say, one in fifty units is faulty then, on average, one purchaser in 2500 will suffer two faulty units in a row.

I don't know about these different modes, as I only use the box to watch or record tv/radio, boot up takes a little while but it's no worse than other PVRs. So far the only problem I've encountered with the box is once I turned my tv on and it had failed to enable the HDMI connection, but that was restored by turning the tv off and back on again.

Could be something else causing some of the issues perhaps?
Interference / mains spikes / poor cabling from dish / LNB faulty?
