Humax Foxsat-HDR freeze up
roadsidetree
23-07-2009
Hi,

I posted this in the wrong forum earlier.

We bought Humax Foxsat-HDR earlier this year and it used to work like a charm till few days ago.

Since last few days when we browse channels (through Guide button in remote), the screen freezes up. After which I have no other alternative than turning power off and on again.
Strange thing is it doesn't happen every time.

Is this a known issue? Any pointers to resolve this issue please?

TIA,
savvy

There have been a few posts with this specific issue, mentioning lockup whilst navigating the EPG.

There has been speculation that the HDR is busy whilst downloading the EPG, and cannot cope with "manic button pressing" whilst this is happening.

Try letting the EPG fully load after pressing Guide (about 1 min, the "Receiving Programme Information" in the top right will go away & the sound come back on), before pressing any other buttons to navigate the EPG, and see if this improves your experience.

You shouldn't have to treat it with kid gloves like this, but if it does solve your problem, just try and be a bit slower with your button presses if the HDR is downloading the EPG.

If it doesn't solve it, you may have a faulty box, especially if it locks up frequently.

Rgds.

Les.
