I've put a couple of posts up on www.pvrjunction.co.uk about new Freesat+ PVRs coming out over the next few months from Sagem and Goodmans. I'll be updating the comparison tables at pvrjunction over the next few days so I will add the Goodmans GFSDTR320HD and Sagem DTR94250S and DTR94500S at the same time. ian-d this might be of interest for your blog, Sagem told me yesterday they have also a new STB for freesat called the DSI86HD. It should be out around now/soon for £130. the picture they sent me yesterday has a USB port too.

Maybe this will give Humax the almighty kick up the backside that they so desperately need to encourage them to get a decent update out.

It's amazing how 'enabling' a bit of competition can be.

The Sagem spec list on the Argos site does not mention HDMI (the Goodman one does). Could be Argos inattention to detail but...?

Now I think I know why Humax have delayed.

Graphics card companies hold back releases of good drivers until a competitor releases their card, then the new drivers released make their card better than the competitor.

Humax wait until these boxes are released, then released the upgrade and can say its a much better box and use that publicity to try and get more sales.

I've not had a chance to post on this yet, but am not rushing, Harvard are absolutely shocking at providing information on products they want to sell.

@goggled - Sagem HD has HDMI, just missing from Argos site.

As you would expect from them. Is the Alba group now calling themselves Harvard?.

All HD boxes MUST have HDMI, it's not optional.

Lets hope it does! but are owners of these Sagem and Goodmans likely to ever get an update?

That's a matter between them and Sagem/Goodmans.

No one here is waiting for a Freesat+ update from Sagem or Goodmans at the moment.

I can allready warn for poor firmware support on the Sagem, Canal Digital & Boxer has these in the same design and the last updated added more problems than it fixed, this even took an entire year to deliver.

Doubtful they make it right this time.

Perhaps they outsourced it to Humax.

I see no mention of power consumption when in standby on either brand...

Anyone else notice that Argos don't list the Humax in this Freesat Digital Recorders section ?

A general "freesat" search on the site does reveal the whole kit and kaboodle though savvy.

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...hTerms=freesat

It's getting quite interesting now with the varied range of freesat products appearing. No doubt we'll have more arriving too. Can't be bad. (Not as good as my Nova HD and PC of course)

Yes, I noticed that "freesat" found it, but their website catalogue database programmers cocked it up for their own Freesat Digital Recorders categorisation.

Competition is always good

Surely, Snoods, you would have to be comparing 2 Nova HD's in a PC, with these products ?

Rgds.

I notice that Argos are offering a "half price" HDMI lead with their freesat stb's. I thought that a "free" HDMI cable was part of the freesat specification!

Didn't get one with my Sky HD box which was a surprise. I had a couple spare anyway but you'd think that would have come with one out of the box. Not many people are going to buy a Sky HD box without intending to use HDMI.
