DS Give Peter Andre's New Single 2 out of 5!
Oh Dear! I'm not surprised though as his voice has soooo been altered to make it sound different!
DS Review: One of the by-products of Pete and Katie's messy break-up has been the bizarre resurrection of Andre's pop career. The former six-pack flasher enjoyed an irony-laced revival after I'm A Celeb..., thanks in the main to a Chris Moyles radio campaign and the fact that a certain portion of the country were amused/baffled by the laughably naff 'Insania'. His subsequent Long Road Back album flopped and we've all tried our hardest to forget about the Price/Andre duets disc, but Pete hasn't quite given up on his popstar dream yet. 'Behind Closed Doors' is a musical shift from the ballads ('I Feel You'), '90s pop-rap ('Flava') and cod-reggae ('Mysterious Girl') of old, but sadly Andre's still about ten years out-of-date with his influences. Sounding like a duff Backstreets Boy track with some budget futuristic-rock production, the horror is compounded by Andre's gruff vocals, which have been so nipped and tucked that he barely sounds recognisable. Some of the lyrics threaten to titillate ("Don't believe what you read, half of the things you see"), but they're so unimaginative and desperately cynical that any empathy for the singer is soon lost. Suddenly 'Mysterious Girl' doesn't sound too bad, does it? |

It's definitely worth more than 2. It's not the work of genius but come on it's just a pop record, and not a bad one.

I saw him perform this on T4 on the Beach and have now just seen the video!
What the heck have they done to his voice?! It doesn't sound anything like him particularly at the very start. The video is number 3 on the 4music chart, just a generic video really filled with pretty women wearing little clothes. If I hadn't known otherwise I would NEVER have guessed it was Peter Andre if I heard that on the radio! Talk about voice manipulation! |

I thought they were very generous - I wouldn't have even given it 1 star if I were writing the review.

Ugh his voice on it makes me cringe, I like the guy and I'd like this to be a hit but its absolute tosh, it would have been better for him to sing it in his natural voice. I couldnt watch the music video all the way through cos the voice alternation is so disconcerting. Another flop methinks.

I have heard him sing accoustic on heatworld.com and must say he sounds fab, much much better accoustically.
I think he has the potential to be a good singer/songwriter. He is never going to be lennon or mccartney but he does have potential to do well. I wish he the best and hope he gets the number 1 or 2 he deserves it. but think unconditional is the song that will rocket him from good singer to amazing, any parent listening to the song couldn't say it doesn't touch them |
