The Humax box does exactly what it says - it implements the freesat spec. There may be some issues in the way it's implemented, but to keep knocking Humax is just wrong.
I fully agree with you that knocking Humax on their Freesat PVR implementation is wrong. They did an excellent job for an early implementation and I'm certain that, with their next firmware release, it'll get even better. I've had every generation of Sky+, including HD, and you cannot record any non-EPG Channel. In my case this includes BBC3/4, BBC News, ITV1-4 etc.

Having said that, I do think that the debate on this forum is very polarised. Every query raised is seen as an attack on Freesat, Humax, whatever. Immediately a defence team, and I'm NOT referring to your post, springs into action. This is actually counter productive as it discourages new posters from recording their experiences. It would be far better to encourage all contributions as, ultimately, they could help to improve the Freesat experience.

This thread has been somewhat hijacked.

Anyway I tried to cancel my Sky multiroom sub and guess what - Sky refuse to answer the phone - you have to hang on at your expense for hours to get through. I have sent them a "contact" form request which may get through.

I think Sky's behavious is outrageous in many ways and they behave like a monopoly. To deliberately refuse to provide any online facility to downgrade your account (but provide plenty to upgrade) and make you wait for ages on an expensive number to get through on the phone (so they can try and talk you out of it) is so unprofessional.

See here. Appears to be an 0800 No & another non-premium number that will get through.

Rgds.

They don't make it easy but they do accept requests to downgrade via "MySky".

Yes, did it myself, fairly painless.
